After a late-night Saturday UNO Flip card game, the Thrive Retreat concluded Sunday morning with the Blind Auction Purse results, the Thrive Choir, Pastor Cristy delivering the closing message, and Communion. It was an incredible weekend of worship, fellowship, learning, laughter, and joy. Plans are already underway for the 2027 event taking place next August. - Mark

On August 9th, I joined Rev. Mark Brady and the East Mahoning Baptist Church for their 175th anniversary celebration. The sanctuary was nearly full, with church members, former members, and people from the surrounding community participating in the celebration. Pastor Mark preached a powerful message from John 17, focusing on Jesus’ prayer for all believers and his pronouncement that we are one in Christ once we put our faith in Jesus. A picnic followed the service with delicious food and some fun games.

Randy Powell, GPS for NW writes: We had a wonderful day at PNC park yesterday {At least until the bottom of the 9th} for our annual Pastors at the Pirates. Enjoying an afternoon of baseball with brothers and sisters who serve the Church in a pastoral role. It doesn't get much better than this.

Yesterday, the Thrive Retreat was in full gear with worship, workshops, activities, and more. A short business meeting gave us a chance to hear about all the fantastic work the ladies have been doing throughout the year. In the afternoon, Mission Speakers from around the world shared how this team's contributions are making a difference by sharing the Gospel and Jesus’ love. The evening ended with Pastor Cristy encouraging all of us to fill our minds with “Good Things” listed in Philippians 4. It really was an amazing day. - Mark

Pastor Powell, GPS for the NW writes: I was grateful for the opportunity to visit three churches this week in my ongoing effort to share ABCOPAD's certificates of appreciation to those congregations who go above and beyond supporting Partners in Ministry.

First stop: First Baptist of Sharon where I met Pastor Harley Williams and heard about the growth of their after-school program and efforts to repair and update the building.

Second stop: First Baptist of Transfer where I met longtime lay leader (and Camp Judson supporter) Shari Kays-Whitten and talked about the challenges of small church rural ministry.

Third stop: First Baptist of Greenville where I met a trio of lay leaders: Phil Wasser, Lorie Mitchell, and Mary Calladine and talked about a wide-variety of issues of relevance between a local church, its association, and ABCOPAD.

An excellent day on the road, thanks to each for the willingness to meet me in a way that enable me to make this one smooth loop rather than three separate trips!
