CHAPTER MEETING TO BE HELD OCTOBER 7 WITH PA GAME COMMISSION DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Susquehanna Chapter of Trout Unlimited will host PA Game Commission (PGC), Deputy
Executive Director, Dave Gustafson to discuss many important topics affecting area sportsmen.
Topics will include, but not be limited to, the recent State Supreme Court decision affecting law
enforcement operations of both the PGC and the PA Fish & Boat Commission, the recent decision
to eliminate the Deputy Game Warden Program, natural gas development of area State Game
Lands (SGL) and recent legal activity regarding natural gas rights, status of the Fisher Mine
operations on SGL 75 near English Center, the status of local deer herds and the current Elk range.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct 7, 2026 at 7:00 pm at the Covenant Central
Presbyterian Church, 807 W. 4th Street, Williamsport. Parking and entrance to the Church meeting room is at the rear of the building with access off of Campbell Street. Additional parking is available in the lot just south of the church and accessed from the church lot.

Fishing Tackle Auction Fundraiser
Roan Auction Sept. 19, 2026

The Susquehanna Chapter of Trout Unlimited has consigned 47 lots of donated fishing tackle to Roan, Inc. for their Sportsman’s Auction on Saturday, September 19, 2026, starting at 9 AM. Roan’s is located at 3530 Lycoming Creek Rd in Cogan Station. The items can be previewed at the Roan gallery on Friday September 18th between 9 AM – 5 PM and on the sale day @ 7 AM.

Consigned items include quality bamboo fly rods, tackle boxes with lures, many fishing rods and reels, approximately 20 quality Sage & Diamondback spey fly rod blanks, fly lines, saltwater baits and hooks, waders and boots, trout flies and fly tying materials, etc. A complete catalog of our items and photos (lots 366-413) can be found on the Roan auction site at the following link:

Proceeds from this no-reserve auction will be used to help maintain and improve our cold-water resources in the region. Bid high, win some quality fishing tackle, and support a good cause! This auction is in lieu of our annual spring fishing flea market fundraiser.

Susquehanna Chapter of Trout Unlimited Picnic and Meeting at Trout Run Park on September 9, 2026

Want to learn about our TU chapter activities and conservation projects, perhaps try out fly casting as a first - timer or sharpen your skills under the instruction of experienced fly fishers? Maybe just talk fishing and the outdoors with a bunch of like - minded individuals? The public is invited to a picnic and outdoor meeting of the Susquehanna Chapter of Trout Unlimited to be held at Trout Run Park on Wednesday, September 9 th . Several fly rod and reel outfits will be available for those to try out who do not have one. You may also want to
check out the fishing platform adjacent to the park on Lycoming Creek constructed by our members, as well as
some of the habitat structures placed along the stream to create fish habitat and control bank erosion.
Meet, greet and picnic will begin at 5:30 PM at the Trout Run Park Pavilion, with hotdogs, corn - on - the - cob and drinks provided, followed by the demos. Participants are encouraged to bring a dessert or side dish to share, but if you can’ t, please come anyway. Trout Run Park is located just south of the village of Trout Run
and can be accessed from the old Rt 15 highway.

Northcentral Region WCO Derek Norman, whose district includes Clinton and western Lycoming counties, was recently presented with the Gerald L. Greiner Environmental Protection Award for exemplifying the protection, conservation and enhancement of the Commonwealth's aquatic resources.

In 2025, Norman investigated nine environmental incidents within his region resulting in significant settlements that will benefit local aquatic resources.

The Susquehanna Chapter of Trout Unlimited Presents “How Do Effective Fly Patterns Really Compare to What Trout Eat”

We tie a fly to our leader and proceed to fish and that’s ok. But have you ever been curious enough to wonder how our flies compare to what Trout actually eat, or what may trigger a Trout to take our fly? We’ll dive into comparisons between natural insects and imitations, and also look at some flies that may not appear anything like what a Trout might actually accept as part of its daily diet.
All are invited to attend a presentation by local fly fisherman, Dave Rothrock. In addition to being a master fly fisherman and fly tier, Dave has also spent time as a fishing guide, an author, a competitive fly caster, and has traveled both domestically and internationally to fly fish.

Susquehanna Trout Unlimited Presents “Getting Started Fly Fishing in Northcentral PA”

The Susquehanna Chapter of TU invites everyone who might be wondering how to get started fly fishing in Northcentral PA to a special program hosted by our local Trout Unlimited members. Topics will include basic equipment, gear, flies, tips and advice on how to put it together to get out on a stream and entice some fish to come to your flies. We will also present information on the best of our local streams as well as sources and websites for locating public stream access, classifications, and special regulation areas on our local waters. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 7:00 pm at the Covenant Central Presbyterian Church, 807 W. 4th Street, Williamsport.
