Black infants are nearly three times more likely than white infants to die from Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID). Breastfeeding for at least two months can lower the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) by almost half. If you want to breastfeed and need support:
• Look for local breastfeeding resources.
• Ask your hospital about after‑discharge services.
• Contact your WIC clinic if you’re a client.
• Talk with friends who have breastfed.
• Ask your hospital or pediatrician about support groups.

Black Breastfeeding Week 2026 is an annual observance taking place from August 25–31, 2026. Its 2026 theme is "WE ALL WE GOT: 15 Years of Community, Care, and Collective Power," marking a milestone-focused celebration of Black infant health, lactation equity, and community-led support systems.
