Tonight, I watched video footage of the two loose pit bulls that have been terrorizing local neighborhoods, attack and kill another cat.
I wish I had never watched it.
That cat suffered terribly in its final moments. It never stood a chance.
This is no longer an isolated incident.
These dogs have repeatedly been reported running loose throughout the neighborhood. They have been returned numerous times, yet the problem continues.
Residents have reported these dogs:
• Chasing and killing cats
• Running through yards without warning
• Going after dogs on private property
• Chasing children on bicycles
• Pursuing pedestrians
• Causing at least one woman to jump into a stranger’s vehicle to escape
This is pack behavior, and it is escalating.
I am one of the biggest animal advocates you will ever meet. I believe every animal deserves compassion and understanding.
But I also believe our community deserves to be safe.
No family should have to worry about their child riding a bike down the street.
No pet owner should have to worry about their animal being ripped apart in its own yard.
No colony caretaker should have to wonder which cat will be next.
Enough is enough.
If you live near West Edwin Street, Maple Street, Spruce Street, or the surrounding Center City area:
⚠️ Bring your pets inside.
⚠️ Do not leave dogs tied out unattended.
⚠️ Keep a close eye on your children.
⚠️ Watch over your colony cats and outdoor animals.
Most importantly, REPORT EVERY INCIDENT.
