In celebration of the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, POTI is highlighting Major General Joyce Sitienei’s advice for students and future peacekeepers. In her words, “It is important that you understand your mandate and respect the communities that you will work with. And remember your conduct represents not only your uniform but also your country and the international community.”

Major General Sitienei has a peace operations career spanning more than 20 years. As the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) of the National Defence University- Kenya (NDU-K) and former Director of the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC), she has invaluable insight into the foundations of successful peacekeeping.
