Many people want to feel closer to God… but aren’t sure where to begin.

The Catholic Church gives us a simple path: prayer, the Sacraments, Scripture, and love in action.

Nothing complicated. Just small, faithful steps lived with Him each day—the kind of quiet faith that slowly lets His light in.

Because real growth with God isn’t sudden or loud. It’s more like sunshine… steady, warm, and gently drawing us deeper into His love.

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”— James 4:8

Many people do not realize this:
The Hail Mary is one of the few traditional Christian prayers, like the Our Father, that intentionally places Scripture on our lips before we ever speak our own words.

The prayer begins with God’s Word proclaimed over Mary:
“Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!” (Luke 1:28)
“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!” (Luke 1:42)

Only after Scripture forms our prayer do we add the petition:
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us…

That order matters.
First we receive what God has revealed. Then we respond with humility.

Intercession is love in action.
Abraham intercedes for S***m.
Moses intercedes for Israel.
Job intercedes for his friends.
And at Cana, Mary intercedes before Jesus works His first miracle.

The Hail Mary simply continues that pattern within the family of God for us, here, today.

A historical note often overlooked:
The second half of the Hail Mary (“Holy Mary, Mother of God…”) was solidified in the 16th century to safeguard two essential truths:
• Christ is truly God incarnate, fully divine and fully human in one Person, which is why Mary is rightly called Mother of God
• Christians are never alone. We belong to the family of God, united in prayer across heaven and earth.

That is why this prayer has endured.
It forms humility.
It anchors us in Scripture.
It teaches us to ask for help without shame.

If you are carrying something quietly this January, consider this your invitation to ask for the prayers of the Mother of God.

How old was Jesus in this passage?

Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, greets Mary and says, “And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” (Luke 1:43)

Jesus had not yet been born. Mary is carrying Him in her womb, and yet Scripture already reveals He is Lord.

The Gospel of Luke consistently speaks of the unborn not as abstractions, but as real persons already caught up in God’s saving work. It invites us to listen carefully to the language of Scripture and to receive what God reveals about life, dignity, and His presence from the very beginning.

Why does this matter when we read Scripture and speak about it with others?
Because we cannot fully love our neighbor if we misunderstand who our neighbor is. Love depends on truth.

It is beautiful, then, that the Church—reflecting on this biblical revelation—confirms:

“Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person.” (CCC 2270)

✨ This is how we build a culture of life. ✨

January is the Month of the Unborn Child. As we begin a new year, we choose not only to celebrate life quietly, but to live it out joyfully and publicly.

In collaboration with , our **Baby Shower Mini Bible Study: Rejoice! ** is designed to help communities gather around mom and her soon-to-be-born baby, wrapping them in prayer, love, and meaningful support.

With a variety of resources included, such as games, keepsakes, and vigil candle wraps for when mom is in labor, it is a beautiful way to accompany mothers whether they are welcoming a first baby or a fifth. It fits seamlessly into any baby shower gathering, big or small.

This study also includes and points to several of the Sisters of Life’s wonderful free resources that support life and strengthen families.

The Baby Shower Mini Bible Study is available as a free download on our website (link in bio). Use it, share it, and help build a culture where every life is cherished.

As the Christmas season draws to a close, here is a simple way to let its grace continue throughout the year.

Turn your Christmas cards into prayer intention cards.

Write each person’s name on the back. Place them where you most often pray—or keep them with your Bible study materials so that each time you enter into the Word, you are also reminded to intercede for others by name.

Even if you didn’t send or receive cards this year, you can begin simply by writing down the names God has placed on your heart.

Intercessory prayer is not a sentimental gesture. It is a real participation in the priestly work of Christ. Scripture exhorts us:

“I ask that supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings be offered for everyone…” (1 Tim 2:1).

The Church teaches that intercession is an expression of communion within the Body of Christ and a sharing in Christ’s own mediating love (CCC 2634–2635).

Small habit. Eternal impact.

We hope our entire He Is Goodness community had a blessed and joyful Christmas season 🤍 May the love we celebrated continue to shape the way we pray for one another all year long.

Pause. Take a moment with the Blessed Mother, Mary.

Advent is not only preparation.
It is attention.

When Mary receives Christ, Scripture tells us she “arose and went with haste” to Elizabeth. Her haste is not impatience. It is the fruit of grace. Having received Christ, she does not wait. She moves toward others, carrying Christ with her.

This is the pattern of Advent.
We pause to receive.
Then we are sent.

Mary shows us that true readiness for Christmas is not withdrawal or distraction, but presence that leads to action, bringing Christ to others through our time, our care, and our willingness to show up. She does this within a relationship already marked by trust and kinship. In the same way, the Lord often sends us first to the people we already see and love, inviting us to carry Christ more intentionally into those relationships (cf. CCC 1996–2000).

As Christmas draws near, ask quietly:
Who is the Lord asking me to go to?
Who needs my presence, support, or attention right now?

May Christ deepen love within your heart this Advent.

Waiting holds purpose.
Notice how Micah does this. In Micah 7:7, he speaks his hope out loud. He names his intention to look to the Lord, he commits to waiting for the God of his salvation, and he proclaims with confidence that God will hear him. Micah is living hopeful faith in real time. His words show us how to hold expectation with trust, even when clarity has not yet come.

The Catechism teaches that every baptized person shares in Christ’s mission as priest, prophet, and king (CCC 783–786). Hope strengthens each of these roles. As priest, we offer our lives to God. As prophet, we witness to His promises even before we see them fulfilled. As king, we choose virtue over fear and discouragement.

Hope is a theological virtue given by God Himself (CCC 1817–1820). If you are struggling to feel hopeful this season, ask Him to increase it. He will meet you there.
