Theirs is one of my favorite redemption stories.
If you had seen Eric and Amanda years ago, you wouldn't have recognized the people they are today. While they both fought individual battles with addiction, Jesus was already working behind the scenes to reconcile them first to Himself, and then to each other. Now, their marriage stands as a powerful testament to His grace. Instead of walking those destructive paths alone, they are now growing in faith and recovery together, proving that with Christ, anything is possible. Here is the story of their journey from isolation to a shared life of purpose.
"Hello, my name is Eric Denton, and my sober date is April 27, 2021. That is the day I was released from jail to come to Anchored Ministries and didnβt know it then but live a life for Jesus Christ. Before that wonderful day, I was bound by drugs and alcohol and lived for the world in a miserable way. I lost my family, my son, friends, my identity, my job and everything that had meaning. I was facing multiple felonies and a plethora of misdemeanors. My bond was lowered so I could come to rehab. When I got to Anchored Ministries my faith in good people was restored. I began to read the Bible and listen to people who knew better than I did. By the grace of God and the power of the Holy Ghost I am alive and well today. Now I am the program director of the wonderful program I was once a client in. I went from being a womanizer to having a beautiful wife in a faithful marriage. I went from an absent father to a present dad. My son used to call me Eric and now he calls me dad. I was broken and hopeless. Now I am a new man and full of an eternal hope shot. I went from a dope dealer in a trap house to a preacher in a church house. My family is whole again because of Jesus Christ and Anchored Ministries. I rededicated my life to Jesus on Jan. 3rd , 2022. Donβt give up. Donβt ever give up. You really can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. I love you all and Jesus is King!!!"
"Hi, my name is Amanda Denton. I came into Anchored Ministries on June 11, 2021. I was hopeless and broken and addicted. Over the year that I was there, I experienced the love of Jesus and learned the power of the Holy Spirit. Through self-reflection and
accountability, I found myself. Through persistence, prayer, and the support of the program and Jesus, I was able to overcome challenges that once seemed insurmountable. I have gained confidence, clarity, and peace, and I now approach each day with a sense of purpose and joy. What once felt like setbacks have become steppingstones, and I am deeply grateful for the journey that has shaped me into who I am today. In June, I will have 5 years sober, I have an amazing life, and I have custody of my 17-year-old son, who is about to graduate from high school and go to college. My daughter is about to have a baby in July, and that child will never see me addicted or in bo***ge. I have an amazing husband whom I serve the lord with. I am a daughter and a
mother, and I am in my second year of college. I work at the ministry that helped and showed me the love of Jesus, and I get to help others and show them a way out of the darkness. That would have never been possible if I had not fully surrendered to a power
greater than myself, whom I call Jesus. Psalms 46:10 says Be still and know that I am GOD. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. Without being still and knowing that He is God, my life would not be possible today. Just to be still in moments when I wanted to run, being still in his presence, so I
can hear his voice, being still to find out who he is!!! If he can do it for someone like me, he can do it for you. He is a God who is still performing miracles."
