A glimpse of ministry in Eastern Europe.

Nancy, Steve, and Valerie recently had the opportunity to visit with some of our houses and one of the outreach clubs we’re grateful to support.

These moments remind us why relationships are at the heart of this ministry. Showing up, listening, encouraging, praying, and reminding people that they are seen and loved can have an impact far beyond a single visit.

Please continue praying for our friends and ministry partners throughout Eastern Europe and for God’s protection and provision over their work.

Friends Club Ukraine started with a simple vision: give young people a safe place to belong.

Heart for Orphans house parents, Natasha and Sergey, founded Friends Club in Ukraine, and it grew into something beautiful. Eventually, they rented a storefront where kids could come five nights a week for worship, relationship classes, cooking classes, community, and a place to simply belong.

Friends Club became Natasha & Sergey’s passion and a calling they believed God had placed on their hearts.

Tragically, the Friends Club space was destroyed because of the war in Ukraine. Losing a place that had become a second home to so many young people was heartbreaking for Natasha & Sergey.

But that isn’t the end of the story.

God is opening a new door for Friends Club, and we can’t wait to share what’s next. Stay tuned for more!

This week, our very own Amber Linnekin, Director of Development and Donor Relations, was formally inducted onto the Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Toano!

At Heart for Orphans, we serve children internationally—and our love for children extends right here to our own community. We’re excited to see Amber serve alongside neighbors who share a commitment to helping children thrive.

There’s something special about gathering around God’s Word. ❤️

Bible study at Mel’s House is a place to learn, ask questions, pray, and grow together. We’re grateful for every opportunity these young people have to experience consistent community and hear how deeply they are loved by God.

Please pray for the kids at Mel’s House, that these conversations would take root in their hearts and that they would continue growing in faith.

Olya’s first week of college in Ukraine. 🎓

Her tuition was paid through Heart for Orphans’ Hope + Future Fund, which helps young people pursue education and prepare for life ahead. If you support Heart for Orphans, you are helping young people like Olya take steps toward their future. THANK YOU!!

Today, Olya received a pencil with seeds tucked inside. Once the pencil is used, the seeds can be planted. 🌱 It’s a lovely picture of our hope for her as she learns, grows, and puts what she learns into practice.

Welcome to the Board, Tim Geiling! 🎉

We’re grateful to welcome Tim to the Heart for Orphans Board of Directors!

Tim first learned about Heart for Orphans at our 2026 Annual Dinner. Moved by the stories he heard, he felt called to help care for vulnerable children—meeting their physical needs and helping them experience the love of Jesus.

A Financial Advisor at Davenport & Company LLC in Williamsburg, Tim brings valuable experience in finance, leadership, and serving others. He and his wife, Lizzy, live in Williamsburg with their sons, Jackson, Whit, and Graham—and their golden retriever, Baker. Their family is active at Coastal Church.

We’re deeply thankful for volunteers who generously share their time, resources, expertise, and hearts for children. Please join us in welcoming Tim! ❤️

As we continue celebrating back-to-school season, we also want to welcome two more teenagers to Mel's House! Daniil is 17 years old, and Natalia is 15 years old. After studying online during COVID, we're excited for them to have the chance to return to school and be around other teenagers.

Please be praying for their school year, that they would feel like part of the family, and that they would grow in their faith while at Mel's House!

We're celebrating a new school year AND a new beginning for Dylan!

Meet Dylan, a second grader and the newest member of our Hope of the Desert family.

But Dylan’s story is also part of a much bigger story. In this first photo, Dylan is pictured with his big sister Nancy, a recent Hope of the Desert graduate and one of the very first children Vova and Vika welcomed into their home years ago. Later, Nancy’s younger sister Claudia joined the family. And now, Dylan is beginning his own chapter at Hope of the Desert.

As students around the world head back to the classroom, so do the children and young adults in Heart for Orphans homes across Ukraine, Romania, Kenya, and other communities we serve.

For them, education is about more than a new school year. It’s a pathway toward hope, opportunity, and a brighter future.

Through our Hope & Future Fund, we invest in each child’s unique needs and dreams—from tutoring and specialized therapy to educational enrichment, vocational training, university support, and the first steps toward independent living. Because we believe every child deserves the chance not just to learn, but to grow, heal, dream, and thrive. ❤️
