Join us for our Summer Solstice Festival on Sunday, June 21st from 12-5pm at The Wandering Witch. Free entry, open to everyone, and full of seasonal summer magic.

This week at The Wandering Witch is letters to fathers, ancestral grief, little ones learning to breathe through the big feelings, summer snacks made with intention, keychains strung with love, and the longest day of the year celebrated in two places at once. 🌻

Father’s Day and Juneteenth share this week, and we’re not looking away from either one - honoring the men who shaped us in this life, and the resilience of ancestors who carried more than they should have ever had to carry. 💜✨💛

The Summer Solstice arrives Sunday and we are meeting it with a seasonal festival at the shop! Come see Sky, Natalie, and Anna from 12-5pm and partake in our local artist’s alley, free activities, baked goods, and tarot readings! 🌞

Lexi, Donovan, and Kim also have a fun fae-filled weekend in Charlottesville, VA at IX Art Park! Fae Fest is one of our favorite annual offsite events, and we cannot wait to see everyone and take part in this whimsical celebration of community, magic, and wonder. 🧚🏼‍♀️

Tonight, we dig deep into Dirt Magic.
It might sound overly simple, even a little funny, to consider dirt a magical ingredient or tool. But folk magic has never needed anything fancy to be powerful - it’s always been about using what you have, and dirt is one of the oldest tools available to mankind.
Across cultures and generations, the ground beneath us has been used with intention.
Graveyard dirt, gathered with reverence and respect, has long been used for protection and ancestor work.
Crossroads dirt, taken from where two paths meet, has been used for decision making, and choices that need a boost of clarity.
Threshold dirt from entry points has marked transitions, beginnings, endings, the spaces between.
Courthouse dirt for justice, fairness, and a positive outcome in court cases and legal battles.
Even the soil from your own home or land carries something especially powerful: it grounds you, protects what you’re building, and roots you to the place where your life is actually happening.

Dirt Magic is an example of folk magic in its truest form.
It’s not aesthetic. It’s not curated.
It’s the earth, and the people who walk upon it, trusting the sacred magic that it holds.

There’s something deeply ancestral about working with the earth.
Knowing that every person who came before you stood on soil, was fed by soil, and eventually returned to it.
When you work with earth intentionally, you are participating in something older than humanity itself.

What if the key you have been looking for has been in your back pocket all along?

A key, passed forward through hands and hearts that you may have never known. Through women who tended the hearth, men who worked the land, children who sang with the birds and ran with the wind. Through the ancestors who survived their lives so that you could do more than just survive.

Legacy isn’t always a name or a story.
Sometimes it’s a door they knew they would never open in their lifetime, but they left you the key so you could walk through in yours.

Maybe, it’s not about another journey, another question, another test. Maybe it’s just about being brave enough to turn the key. 🗝️

This week at The Wandering Witch is petitions and binding spells, the deep wisdom of the body’s natural cycles, dirt under our fingernails, freezer magic, and a New Moon in Gemini asking us what story we want to tell. We’re working with joy as something worth protecting, with cycles as something worth honoring, and with the earth itself as a source of real and ancient power. 💜✨🌑

This is a week for the witches who aren’t afraid to make space for the grittier corners of the craft alongside the tender ones. Graveyard soil and binding spells share space this week with sound baths and affirmations, because that’s the truth of it - magic is all of it, all at once.

Our collective reading looks a little different today. I reached for a deck from our shop library today that I’ve never used before. My Appalachian ancestors were absolutely tickled and asked me to record this with my thickest southern drawl for them as an offering, so congratulations - you now get to witness this too 😅
