🌱📚Christie is excited to share this year’s Summer Library Kits! 🌈✨

There are four 4‑H At Home kits for our Iowa County libraries to go with their “Plant A Seed, Read” theme! Every kit is fully packed with supplies so kids can learn, explore, and create all summer long 🌞💚

Here’s what our young readers and scientists will get to dig into:
1️⃣ Watch Me Grow Seed Dissection 🌱🔍
2️⃣ Cover Crop Monsters 👾🌾
3️⃣ Seed Germination Necklace 🌈📿
4️⃣ Giant Pumpkin Story 🎃📖

Can’t wait to see all the growing, reading, and exploring in our libraries this summer!

Special thank you to Amy and Patty for helping me put these kits together!

🌟 Tigertastic Snack Time! 🌟

May 28th Christie Farmer Martin got to serve the Iowa Valley Elementary their special Tigertastic Day snack — all themed around Eating the Rainbow! 🌈✨

We crunched and munched our way through:
❤️ Red grapes
🟢 Green veggie straws
🟡 Yellow veggie straws
🟠 Orange veggie straws
🔵 Blue blueberries

And the kids learned what each color does for their bodies:

• ❤️ Red foods = happy, strong hearts
• 🟢 Green foods = super‑strength + staying healthy
• 🟡 Yellow foods = sunshine energy for play
• 🟠 Orange foods = superhero eyesight
• 🔵 Blue foods = big brain power

Such a fun, colorful day with the sweetest kiddos! 🌈💛🍇✨Thank you to Amy Harrison for all your help!!

🌿 Master Conservation Program – Spring Session Complete! 🌿

Our Master Conservation participants wrapped up an incredible season of learning across some of our region’s most beautiful natural areas. Each session offered hands‑on experiences and expert insight into Iowa’s diverse ecosystems. 🌎✨

📍 Lake Belva Deer (Keokuk County Conservation)
We kicked things off with Ranger Naturalist Stratton Bond, who shared all about the wildlife that call Belva Deer home. Participants enjoyed a welcome video, a light meal, and time to connect. 🦌🎥🥗

📍 Lake Belva Deer – Session 2
We returned to meet with Leanne, who guided us through the watershed and how it impacts the health of the entire area. 💧🌿

📍 Indiangrass Hills (https://indiangrasshills.org)
Session 3 brought us to the prairie with Judy Felder, who shared her deep knowledge of native plants and habitat restoration. 🌾🦋

📍 Gunderson Wildlife Area (Lake Iowa Park and Iowa County Conservation)
For Session 4, Mark Vitosh taught us about forestry while Jake Slings shared insights on local wildlife. 🌳🦉

📍 Wendling Quarries – Disterhoft Sand (Wendling Quarries Inc.)
Session 5 took us underground (in a way!) as Ryan Clark explained sediment, rock layers, and the geological story beneath our feet. 🪨🔍

📍 Lake Yenruogis
We wrapped up with Chad Dolan, who taught us all about aquatics, fish species, and the importance of healthy water systems. 🐟🌊
