Karen’s House

Karen’s House page will follow the journey and build of the first Domestic Violence Program for Colusa County

Our mission began shortly after the death of Karen Garcia, an unfortunate victim of Domestic Violence. Karen Garcia was only 22 years old when she lost her life leaving behind her 2 year old daughter. She was known for being so happy and full of life, most who knew her had no idea she was in an abusive relationship. CEO and founder of Karen’s House, Tootie Hackett, said “After Karen’s passing i asked myself what can we as a community do to help spread awareness and help other victims that are struggling to find a way out of these impossible situations. I knew this could not just be another story, this is not going to be pushed under the rug”.

Our dream is that Karen’s House will advocate on behalf of domestic violence victims and their children. Our goal is to provide a safe house that can offer services such as Mental Health, Education, Support, Counseling ,wellness recovery, and help Co-Parenting. We are proud to be a place that can promote intervention, prevention, awareness and empowerment for all victims and children.
