“The Cowbelles” was organized as a social club by sixteen ranch wives in Douglas, a town in the very southeastern corner of Arizona, on October 17, 1939. The group’s purpose was “to promote family and social relations between cattle people and to cooperate for the best interests of our industry, our community, and our country”. Their Marguerite Cook Memorial Scholarship was founded in 1977 and has
since awarded over $100,000 to eligible recipients that are from an agriculture family or that are pursuing an agriculture degree. Community Service include supporting the local FFA, 4H , Willcox Art League and Local Food Bank. Provide ranch history displays in partnership with local Historical Societies and Chamber of Commerce activities in Willcox and Pearce/Sunsites. We also provide and serve Cakes at the Annual Willcox Livestock Auction Bull Sale. For 74 years Willcox Cowbelles have worked hard to tell the beef story and we’re proud that so many other states have joined us to further the American beef industry! We are always looking for other ladies passionate about supporting the beef industry. Where It All Started (in order of date founded):
