Well, it’s with a heavy heart that I tell everyone that our fireworks show this year has been cancelled due to our show material going off prematurely, see video. No more material for our shoot. 😉

Purchased some new Vortex binoculars for the cabin viewing pleasure. I just spotted an osprey that I believe is nesting on the Lamovec point.
Near Jim Barr’s house. Beautiful.

The new Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources ATV / UTV lawbook is out. The photo goes over some of the key changes. Based on some of the posts we have read online, we wanted to help clarify a few things.

Number 4, careless operation causing property damage may cost 3 times the repair cost is designed to help small townships go after riders choosing to destroy unpaved roads / parking lots.

Number 10, No towing people on trails / routes, this doesn't apply to towing machines that have people on / in them. Here is the actual code:

NR64.07(6) TOWING OF OBJECTS. While operating an all-terrain vehicle or utility terrain vehicle, no person may:

While operating on a trail or route open to the public, tow any trailer, toboggan, sled, skis, bicycle, skates or toy vehicle, bearing any person. This paragraph does not apply to the towing of a disabled all-terrain vehicle or utility terrain vehicle.

Hello Firewise Community Partners:

We are at “High” fire danger today in Central Wisconsin. You can see that is not the case in northern Wisconsin where the fire danger is at Very High in the northeast and Extreme in the northwest with a Red Flag Warning for 11 counties. Have you ever wondered what exactly the fire danger means (see attached)? The fire danger tells us what to expect in terms of fire behavior and how we as humans should change our own behavior to prevent wildfires. Speaking of behavior…the DNR asks that you use extreme caution until conditions improve. Thank you.

This is from the DNR:

Hello Community Partners:

We are now on Day 5 of Very High fire danger for most of Central Wisconsin and breezy conditions and low humidity are expected to carry through this weekend. Coupled with dry vegetation (grasses and leaf litter) we are looking at increased potential for wildfires, especially in our pine areas. Burning permits are suspended so there should not be any debris burning. Although campfires are allowed, we are asking that you be cautious with any ignition sources in the outdoors this weekend and avoid it completely if possible. If you choose to have a campfire, stay away from trees, keep it small, never leave it unattended and call 911 immediately if it escapes your control. Remember that even when the flames die down, your fire is not necessarily completely out. Embers can remain hot for days and have the potential to reignite. Use lots of water, drown, stir and repeat until cold.
