DuPage County ARES is looking for amateur radio volunteers to assist with communications for the Cantigny 5K at Cantigny Park in Wheaton. All you need is a dual band handheld (2m/70cm).

Date: Saturday, Oct 17, 2026
Volunteer Arrival: 0700
Finish: Approximately 1100

Operators will assist with communications along the racecourse and at key locations. This is a great opportunity to practice real-world net operations while supporting an important community event.

MARATHON ROSTER OPENS FOR RADIO VOLUNTEERS We are now accepting radio volunteers to serve the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon October 11, 2026. Please apply using the Google form linked below to register. We are learning that mass e-mailing is not very effective these days for getting notices like this out. There are too many barriers. Spam filters, inter-provider blocks, and we are all overwhelmed with email, so it gets buried. That means you might get this notice a few times over the summer but we are also seriously exploring other options. We are actively looking into very short text messages to remind you that newsletters or links are available. For that, we need to have your best text phone number and permission to allow us to use this service.
