Save the date - Friends of W. Kerr Scott Lake annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 13 at 5:30 at the W. Kerr Scott Reservoir, USACE Wilmington District Visitor's Center. We'll learn about what's happening with the dam and the lake, hold an election for a board member position, and join together to establish goals for the new year! If you care about the lake, you are invited!

Reminder - it's a beautiful weekend to beautify W. Kerr Scott Reservoir, USACE Wilmington District!

Hello Friends!

We are aiming to give W. Kerr Scott lake and surrounding properties a proper clean-up! We need volunteers in the park areas surrounding our beautiful lake, as well as people in all types of boats willing to pull trash and debris out of the water.

Join us: W. Kerr Scott Friends of the Lake Clean-up - in collaboration with the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Clean-Up Wilkes, Earth Care: North Wilkesboro Presbyterian, First United Methodist Church-North Wilkesboro, and Wilkesboro United Methodist Church. Other church groups are welcome to join.

More info: Saturday, September 13. Volunteers on the ground can meet at the Visitor Assistance Center, 499 Reservoir Rd., Wilkesboro, NC, on Saturday between 8:00 – 9:30 AM for coordination, paperwork and supplies.

What do I do with the garbage? Bagged trash collected along the shoreline can be placed in or near trash receptacles in the USACE parks where cleanup took place. Bagged trash and other larger garbage can be placed on your private boat dock. USACE will begin collecting trash from boat docks on Sunday, September 14. Please contact Zach Dingess via email at [email protected] and [email protected] with pictures (if possible) and location of trash that needs to be collected so we can see what a difference volunteers can make!
