Ancient Order of Hibernians - St. John Neumann Division II The Saint John Neumann Division II of the A.O.H. is located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Wilkes-Barre is in a central place in those coal fields.

We try to promote the causes of Friendship, Unity, and True Christian Charity. The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) in Pennsylvania formed in Pottsville in 1836 and today we are over 7,500 strong and organized into 75 Divisions across the Commonwealth. The Anthracite Coal Fields of Northeastern Pennsylvania were explicitly mentioned in the original letter from Ireland creating the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America in 1836 and still functioning to promote Irish Culture, Ireland, and Our Catholic Faith. We realize that the United States allowed our refugees from hunger and oppression in Ireland to be save their culture and religion in this land of freedom. The Anthracite Coal Fields provided a place where their work ethic was valued and they could raise their families and practice their religion.
