RTBMO is honored to welcome two Vietnam Era warriors. US Army 1LT (Retired) John Clifford, who counts this hunt as a bucket list event to hunt with other Veterans for his first Deer Hunt! US Army Spec5 Jasper Fisher has hunted for decades since his service in Vietnam and looks forward to filling his Missouri Doe tag with in the stands with Lt Clifford!

Both of these warriors served in an era where “Thanks for your service” was well-deserved but unfortunately seldom heard. Well Gentlemen….The RTBMO and all our champions “Thanks You For Your Service”!

Now….Let’s “Return To Base”, Warriors!

At Return to Base of Missouri, our goal is simple:
Give veterans a place that feels like home.

A place to reconnect, to heal, to rediscover life through the peace of the outdoors.

And thanks to supporters like you, our RTBMO Basecamp is wheelchair accessible! Built intentionally so every veteran, regardless of mobility, can experience the same hunts, sunrises, trails, and outdoor moments that can help find sanctuary.

That sanctuary is what your donation makes possible.

Every dollar donated goes directly toward providing outstanding outdoor experiences for the men, women, and the families who were willing to give or gave everything for our freedom.

This Giving Day, we’re asking our community to stand with us and show our veterans that we’ve got their back and that we’re thankful for all that they do.

RTBMO couldn’t be happier to help provide an Outstanding Outdoor Experience for Chad Pledger and Adam Lundell to honor the life and memory of Scott Lundell. In cooperation with Double A Outfitters and our Vanguard Champions Dr. Joe Olk, Jack Lawler, and American Gold Star Mothers Missouri Department, Chad and Adam will be embarking on a Wyoming Pronghorn hunt.

We Will Always Remember Scott Lundell and, in emphasizing that statement, are happy to unveil “Camp Lundell” at our RTBMO Homebase as well.

Our RTBMO Team and Champions wast to send a huge thank you to Douglass Steel LLC of Mountain Grove, MO for their great support by helping to make the RTBMO Base Camp’s entrance accessible regardless of the weather! Such a big deal, especially after the flooding in the Fall of 2024 and Spring of 2025.

Jill and her team at Douglass Steel LLC worked quickly so that Doug Suda and Alva McCown could pick up and deliver 2 large steel “Tin Horns” so that a roadway into the camp can be built without disturbing the creek that we all enjoy and value!

It was incredible how much work got done so quickly this week and we look forward to sharing pictures once the project is complete. There are no better Americans than those you meet in Texas County, Missouri!

On the sacred day of remembrance of all who perished during the attacks on 09/11/2001, Alva McCown and his brother Virgle McCown assisted the RTBMO by completing the first step in our process to dedicate our RTBMO Basecamp flagpole to a Great American Warrior who answered his nation’s call after 09/11.

These great American brothers have worked together for over 30 years in their family business as highway signage guardrail contractors. Today, they put their monster post-hole digger to use by creating the hole critical for our team to erect a memorial plaque to be dedicated on November 15th. Thank you, Alva and Virgle!

Stay tuned as Alva, is dedicating more of his time and talents to help the Return To Base MO basecamp’s access point to be ome weather proof prior to our first hunt this fall season. Tomorrow he will haul culvert pipes and we look forward to sharing more stories of the great work they are doing for our Veterans and Veteran Families so they can have Outstanding Outdoor Experiences as they “Return To Base” this year!
