Our small but mighty turnout for yesterday's work day accomplished a lot! The upper Fern Gully trail was re-done in multiple spots for erosion control, along with some trimming. Please be mindful about the trail surface in the newly done spots, and avoid skidding your tires.
Also, young fawns have been known to lay in the middle of trails. Be cautious on corners and descents! Baby skunks have been sighted this time of year, as well.

Our next trail work day is coming up quickly - May 30th at 8 a.m. Meet at the tubing lot (turn left before you hit the ski lodge). Don't forget bug spray, eye protection, and shovels/rakes. Bring your bikes for a ride, afterwards!

Trail status: Open! The trails are in typical spring shape. They've been cleared of fallen trees/sticks. There is leaf/pine needle cover that needs to be ridden in and ground down. Overall riding is pretty good. Go get it.

Upcoming work day at Nordic Mountain! Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 30th. We'll meet at 8am in the Tubing Lot (enter the park and continue until you see the ski lodge, then turn left). Is 8am too early for you? Let us know, and we'll have someone meet you when you can arrive!
We'll be doing some basic trial maintenance (trimming, raking etc.), as well as re-working some short sections of the trail. So bring your rakes, shovels, work gloves and pruning shears. Long pants, eye protection and bug repellent are highly recommended.

The Willow Creek loop (lower trail) is good to ride. Please be cautious about some potential eroded/sandy spots - we're working on those.
The upper trails will remain closed until the snow from the ski runs has melted down, and things have had a chance to dry out.
**With the rain in the forecast, please stay off the trails entirely if they are soft and/or you are leaving ruts with your tires.**

Pop up work day! We have some people available on Saturday, April 11th and so we're going to spend the morning getting the trails prepped for the season. There are trees to be cleared, sticks to be picked up, and trail maintenance to be done.
More hands make less work, so please join if you can! Don't forget, protective clothing (pants, good shoes, gloves, safety glasses) is always a good idea, and a dose of tick repellent is recommended, as well.
Meeting at 8am in the tubing lot of the ski hill.

The lower trails were groomed this morning and cleared of downed branches. Please avoid riding when the temps get above freezing. The upper trails remain closed.

Trail has been freshly groomed and is probably in the best condition we've had so far this season. Extra shout-out to those of you who snowshoed over the past couple of days, providing a great base!

The upper trails remain closed for the season.

The trail has been ridden in since our last snowfall, but unfortunately our volunteer groomers haven't been able to make it out, yet. We are hoping to get some groom time in this weekend.

Our trail system is currently maintained by a very small crew, and sometimes it is tough to find the time to get out there. If you are interested in helping out, there's a couple of ways to do so:

Become a member of NorthEast Wisconsin Trails:

NEWT is the local organization responsible for developing and maintaining mountain biking trails all over Northeast WI. We rely entirely on membership, volunteers and donations to operate.

Volunteer your time for trail maintenance. Send us a message and we'll set you up with the tools and knowledge needed to help maintain our trail.

Snowshoeing in the winter is always encouraged on the lower trails.
Please contact us before starting any other maintenance.
