Good afternoon. We hope everyone is staying dry (well as much as possible).
Two things. 1. We are closed for intake for everything except reptiles and aviary "critters".
If you have a dog or cat, we haven't rescued those in a few years. But we will help as much as we can. We will post, and cross post the fur-baby. We can scan them for a microchip if we are nearby. We can help, if the animal is chipped, located the owner (no promises, nothing is 100%).
We also HAVE microchips of you'd like to have your pets chipped. It's $10 for the chip and lifetime registration.
We can try to help you find a rescue that does canines or felines. We love animals just like we always have, just our Director cannot do this like she used to.
As for those who find injured or "abandoned" wildlife, or another place gives you our number, here is some more information.
We are not a Wildlife Rescue. And do not have the license to do so.
But we are friends with many who are. So here are the tips from them. 1. Keep in a warm dark area. Preferably in a box or animal carrier. 2. Do not attempt to feed or water (no matter what Google or people on the Internet say). 3. If in Brazoria County, please call Gulf Coast Wildlife Rescue 979-849-0184. Leave a detailed message, they will route your message to the proper person that is rehabbing the type of critter you have, (ie: raptors, opossums, skunks etc). It may take an hour, don't get discouraged.
Sometimes we can take some for a little bit until they call you back for the exchange. On a case to case basis. Just text us after you've made the call to GCWR.
Thank you for reading this. Have a great day.
