One month with Devin 🐱

When our friend captured this tiny kitten from his feral mother, we offered to help trap mom and his littermate too. We loaned our humane trap, but sadly mom disappeared before we could reach her. This is one of the hardest parts of rescue work—kittens are often separated from their families, and we lose the chance to help the whole group.

Devin had interested adopters—family who wanted to give him a home. But when his health screening came back with a positive FIV result, things got complicated. His mom was positive too, so this could be a false positive. We won't know for sure until he's 6 months old. His potential family understandably had concerns.

So we made the call: Devin stays with us. In over a decade of rescuing, we've built our sanctuary around seniors, special needs cats, and community cats who need safety indoors. Adoptable kittens usually find homes easily. Devin needed us.

Two vet visits in, he's had his vaccines, deworming, and health screening. Next: more vaccines and neuter planning.

But here's what matters right now: Devin is *ours*. We rescue because we commit—not just when it's easy or adoptable, but because every cat deserves someone who shows up.

One month down. A lifetime to go. 💚

🌫️ WILDLIFE TIP: Helping Wildlife During Smoky Air Conditions

You may have noticed hazy skies and reduced air quality across Ohio due to wildfire smoke. While many people are taking precautions, wildlife can also be affected by poor air quality.

Here are a few simple ways you can help:

💧 Provide fresh water. Clean bird baths and shallow water dishes daily to remove ash, soot, and debris.

🌻 Keep feeders stocked. Birds may need additional energy during periods of smoke and heat.

🐾 Give wildlife space. Avoid disturbing nesting birds, fawns, or other young wildlife that may be resting more than usual.

🐕 Protect pets. Limit strenuous outdoor activity and provide plenty of fresh water.

☎️ If you find a wild animal that appears injured, is having difficulty breathing, or is otherwise in distress, contact us for guidance here or at 614-793-9453.

As always, wildlife knows how to navigate many natural challenges, but small actions from our community can make a difference during periods of poor air quality.

Welcome to Willo Beach Sanctuary 💙

We’re an animal rescue in Lake County, Ohio, caring for rescue cats and supporting our community through TNR and education.

Our Story:

Willo Beach Sanctuary officially became a nonprofit on February 3, 2021, created in honor of Patrick, a three-legged survivor who taught us that healing is always possible. He lived with us for over six years, showing every scared cat who came through our doors what resilience looks like.

Patrick passed away in November 2025, but his legacy continues through the cats we rescue and the community we serve.

What We Do:
• Rescue and care for community cats in need
• Provide TNR (trap, neuter, return) services
• Educate our community about compassionate cat care
• Honor the memory of those we’ve loved by continuing their work

Meet Our Cats:
