For nearly three years, Terry and Yvonne lived with no reliable hot water. Their toilets leaked. Their bathroom sinks didn’t work. Their shower was installed upside down. Their kitchen faucet and garbage disposal were broken. Most days, the only way to manage the constant issues was to shut off water to the entire house.

But they stayed hopeful. This is their home. Their community. And Terry—a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran—has always pushed through hardship with quiet strength.

Today, their home feels completely different.
Hot showers. Working plumbing. A kitchen sink they can finally use. Safety. Stability. Peace of mind.

This is what critical home repairs make possible for veterans, seniors, and longtime residents in Wickenburg.

💙🏡 Meet Jackie — and the Sweet Story Behind Her New Ramp 🍪
If you’ve ever spent time at Cypress RV Park, you probably know Jackie—her famous cookies have a way of bringing people together. But what many didn’t know was that Jackie had been quietly struggling with mobility challenges that made even entering and exiting her home unsafe.

Because of a disabling condition, the steep steps at her front and back doors had become dangerous. In an emergency, she wouldn’t have been able to get out safely.

Thanks to the Wickenburg Area Habitat for Humanity Critical Repair Program, that changed.

🛠️ Our volunteers built a brand‑new accessible ramp at Jackie’s front entrance and replaced her hazardous back stairs with a safer, more manageable set.
This life‑changing project was made possible by 52 volunteer hours donated by two incredible community members — Ted Svancara and Ken Davis — who believe deeply in helping neighbors stay safe at home.

Today, Jackie can move in and out of her home with confidence… and yes, she’s already back to doing what she loves most: sharing cookies with everyone around her.
