Alan Turing was a gay English mathematician, logician, and cryptologist who led a team that cracked the German Enigma code during WWII, giving the Allies an advantage that helped them win the war.

His theories and work also led to the development of the modern computer, and he is considered a pioneer in artificial intelligence.

Sadly, in 1952, the British government prosecuted Alan Turing for "gross indecency" because of his homosexuality. To avoid a prison sentence, Turing agreed to complete a court-ordered course of hormone injections, also known as chemical castration.

Unfortunately, the hormone treatments caused severe physical and psychological trauma, contributing to Turing’s 1954 su***de at only 41.

How horrible that a man who helped defeat the N***s was treated like this! Imagine what more he could have accomplished if his brilliance hadn’t been destroyed by bigotry!

This Pride Month, let’s remember all the amazing accomplishments of the LGBTQIA+ community and the importance of inclusivity in fostering scientific progress!

Today, we celebrate the labor of mothers in both the private and public spheres.

While there can still be a stigma against mothers in the professional workforce, mothers have continuously gone above and beyond in their contributions.

For example, Judith Love Cohen went to work on the day she was in labor and helped create the Abort-Guidance System. This system rescued the Apollo 13 astronauts.

She took a printout of a problem she was working on to the hospital, called her boss when she finished it, and then gave birth to the renowned comedic actor and musician, Jack Black!
