Come celebrate LGBTQIA+ Pride with us! We organize the annual Pride celebrations for Wichita.

Wichita Pride's mission is to organize events to celebrate and unite our diverse community of LGBT+ and allied people in the greater Wichita area. Our focus is the annual Pride Weekend, and other Pride-related fundraising events throughout the year.

National Coming Out Day is celebrated on October 11th. First celebrated in 1988 it’s an annual celebration and day of awareness for those “coming out of the closet.”

Wichita Pride has a full weekend of events planned to celebrate being out and proud!
Saturday we will have our annual Unity March and Family Picnic. Starting at 11:30am at City Hall (corner of Main and Central) we will have local leaders speak before beginning our Unity March. The Unity March is without sponsors, floats, and what you might expect from a Parade. We will march down Central until we turn on Nims st and end at Riverside park where we will have our Family Picnic. Food, friends, face painters, games, activities, community, and more!

Then Sunday we partner with RedCrossKSOK for the Pride in Every Drop blood drive. At the Red Cross office (707 N Main) we will be in the auditorium from Noon till 6pm giving blood. A way for us to give back to the community there will be drag, photo booths, t shirts, stickers, snacks, and more community as we celebrate Coming Out Day by giving.

It’s a full weekend and plenty of opportunities to celebrate and participate!! We can’t wait to see you there.

There’s still time to sign up for Wichita Pride’s collaboration Blood Drive with the American Red Cross!!

Sunday, October 11th from noon till 6 pm we’ll have t-shirts, photo booths, drag, and an amazing opportunity to give back to your community!!

The Unity March is a community-centered gathering that brings LGBTQ+ people, allies, families, and friends together in a visible expression of solidarity and support.

While our Pride Parade is a celebration, the Unity March is an opportunity to stand together. We come together to celebrate the strength and diversity of our community, recognize the work that has brought us this far, and affirm our commitment to a Wichita where everyone can live openly, safely, and authentically.

The Unity March is intentionally different from our Pride Parade. There are no floats or elaborate productions required; just people walking together, carrying signs and flags, sharing their voices, and showing that our community is stronger when we stand united.

Whether you are LGBTQ+, an ally, a family member, a friend, or simply someone who believes in a more inclusive Wichita, you are invited to walk with us.

Come as you are. Bring your pride. Walk with your community.

Following the march, we’ll come together for a community picnic. The picnic is a chance to relax, share a meal, meet new people, and continue celebrating the community we’ve built together.

Thanks to the generosity of Cargill, burgers will be provided.

We had a researcher reach out asking for help with getting participation for a survey! Link is in the bio and the parameters of the study are below!

Participation: The study involves two components. First, we will ask you and your partner to complete a one-time online survey from home. This survey will take about 1 hour to complete. Second, we will ask you to complete a brief daily check-in online each morning over 60 days; each check-in should take no more than 10 minutes.  

Eligibility: You and your partner must be in a committed intimate relationship and both of you must be willing to participate. Both of you must identify as LGBTQ+ and be at least 18 years of age. It is also important that you feel comfortable speaking and reading English, and you will need internet access to complete the study procedures. There are some other eligibility requirements which we will determine in a brief survey (link provided below) followed by a brief (~15 minutes) meeting on zoom. For example, we are looking for couples with at least one partner who is a regular drinker, and this will be determined when you fill out the survey. 

Compensation: Each of you will receive $20 for the initial online survey. You will receive $5 for each daily survey you complete—up to $300 total—for the series of 60 daily check-ins.  Therefore, each of you can earn up to $320 in total compensation (up to $640 as a couple).

It’s the return of the SECOND annual Wichita Pride Kickball game tournament!!

This year’s tournament will be October 24th starting at 10am! Play will continue until one team is declared the champions with prizes for our top two teams!!
