The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 271 was chartered April 10,1914. In 1918 Shelley Electric and Southwestern Electric became the first two Electrical Contractors to sign contracts with Local Union 271. e electricians voted to be represented by IBEW Local # 271. When Boeing was sold to Spirit Aerospace, the maintenance electricians got a new employer but are still represented by IBEW Local # 271. As we celebrate our 100th year we now represent more than 900 construction electricians, maintenance electricians, and tele-data workers. While the electrical industry is rapidly changing, Local Union # 271 remains committed to its roots: organizing all workers in the electrical industry and raising the standard of living for all.
