Arts Council Mission: To cultivate arts and culture in Greater Wichita by igniting creativity, fostering connection, and driving economic vitality through advocacy and education. Since 1999, the Arts Council, which is housed at CityArts, has worked in partnership with the City of Wichita to achieve its mission of advancing and promoting arts and culture in the Wichita community through advocacy, education and outreach. The Arts Council slogan “We Make Art Happen” reinforces the group’s commitment to the business side of the arts and spreading the word that arts and culture is a $94.7 million industry in Wichita that supports 2,841 jobs and generates $9.5 million in local/state government revenue.

🎨 Happy National Arts in Education Week!

The arts are part of a well-rounded education in Kansas — and research shows why they matter.

Kansas students complete one unit of fine arts as part of the state’s high school graduation requirements. National research also connects arts education with lower dropout rates, higher GPAs across core subjects, and a greater likelihood of earning a high school diploma or GED.

This week, we celebrate the teachers, artists, schools, and organizations across Kansas helping students learn, create, and succeed through the arts.

The arts aren’t just part of an education. They’re part of student success.
