IAM Veterans Hit the Road to Fight Hunger

This past Saturday, October 3rd, IAM District 70 and IAM Local 839 Veterans Committees hit the road to Kansas City, Missouri, joining IAM Local 778 for their 2nd Annual Ruck-N-Rolls Road March for Hunger.

With their rucks loaded and a mission in mind, IAM veterans made their way to the Veterans Community Project of Kansas City, where they delivered donated non-perishable food items to help support veterans facing food insecurity.

The event was about more than a road march. It was about making a real difference in the community. Every donation helps put food on the table for someone who needs it, while the participation of IAM members helps raise awareness about the challenges veterans can face.

For those who have served our country, serving others does not stop when they take off the uniform. It continues through community service, compassion and a commitment to helping those in need.

From Wichita to Kansas City, IAM veterans demonstrated the power of organized labor to make a positive impact beyond the workplace. By coming together, donating, volunteering and showing up, IAM members helped strengthen the community and support a cause that directly impacts veterans in need.

But the work does not stop here. We encourage IAM members across District 70 and beyond to get involved, support your Veterans Committee, donate when you can and look for opportunities to serve your community.

Together, we can turn solidarity into action and action into real change.

When our community needs us, IAM members show up. That’s solidarity in action.

IAM District 70 Hosts Annual Doggie Bowl to Support Guide Dogs of America - Tender Loving Canines

On October 3, 2026, IAM District 70 hosted its annual Doggie Bowl, bringing union members and the community together for a day of bowling, food, raffle prizes and an auction, all while raising money for Guide Dogs of America.

The event was a great opportunity for everyone to have fun while supporting an organization that helps provide guide dogs to individuals who are visually impaired and service dogs for veterans and children with autism as well as facility dogs in hospitals, schools and courtrooms.

A special thank you goes to puppy trainer Barbara Mashak and puppy in training Shadow for joining us. We also appreciate Jennifer Avery and facility dog Valoo from the Wichita Children’s Home for coming out and being part of the event.

IAM District 70 thanks everyone who participated, donated and helped make this year’s Doggie Bowl a success. Your support helps make a difference.

IAM District 70 Members Take Part in Safety and Health Conference

This past week, IAM District 70 members from Local 774 and Local 839 joined IAM members from across North America at the Safety and Health Conference at W3.

Members took part in valuable training designed to help keep their workplaces and fellow members safe. Training included First Aid and CPR, Mental Health, and Active Violence Emergency Response.

Members also completed their OSHA 10 certifications, adding important workplace safety knowledge and skills to their training.

Safety takes all of us. By continuing to learn, train and prepare, IAM members are helping build safer workplaces and stronger communities.

CHARITY OIL CHANGE FOR VETERANS 🇺🇸

Join the IAM Local 839 Veterans Committee and IAM Local 839 Community Services on October 31st for a charity oil change supporting veterans in our community.

📅 October 31, 2026
⏰ 8 AM to 2 PM
📍 3830 S. Meridian, Wichita, KS 67217

🛠️ Oil change services will be provided with a cash donation. All proceeds benefit veterans and support the IAM Local 839 Veterans Committee.

To qualify, you must provide your own oil and filter.

Doggie Bowl 2026 is happening Saturday, October 3rd at Let’s Roll in Seneca. We still have lanes available, so there’s still time to get your team together and join us!

$50 per person includes:
• 3 games
• Shoes
• Pizza
• Unlimited soda

Lane sponsorships are also available for $400.

All proceeds benefit Guide Dogs of America and their mission to change lives through guide dogs.
