Liberation Place is open today because seven members of our community came together to make it possible. This IS community showing up for community.

Because of their generosity, people can come here to Liberation Place today and get what they need, without barriers. This is a space where our neighbors can bring baby/kid clothes and other necessities, to share with other neighbors. It is entirely community supported! Liberation Place is a space where ANYONE can come grab free Plan b, condoms, birth control, baby formula, diapers, Narcan, and other necessities, with no questions asked. This space exists because of the community showing up for the community. We are not funded by the government, and most of what we have here came directly from neighbors who brought things to share with other neighbors.

For every sponsored day, we create a unique art tile honoring the people who made it possible. The tile is displayed in our check-in area that day and then added to our Community Supporter Hallway. Together, these tiles are becoming a permanent art installation along our hallway and staircase—a colorful, growing record of what happens when ordinary people decide that their neighbors should have what they need.

We’re getting closer to funding every regular operating day in September, but there are still days available to sponsor. We’re continuing to catch up on celebrating the incredible people who stepped forward to keep Liberation Place open in September—and September 2 was made possible by a whole team of community supporters! 💜

For every sponsored day, we create a unique art tile honoring the people who made it possible. We’ve been SUPER busy over here, but we’re catching up on our posts—and we wanted to give a huge thank-you to Kendra and Karen for sponsoring our first day of the month, which was Tuesday September 1st!💜

This sponsorship was made in celebration of Kendra's 16 years of recovery. What a meaningful way to celebrate! Thank you, Kendra and Karen!

Their sponsorship kept our doors open for the day, with staff and volunteers in place so families and people could access diapers, formula, clothing, reproductive health supplies, and other essentials—completely free and without barriers.

If you’ve sent us a message lately, you may have gotten an auto-reply that didn’t make sense. Apparently, our auto-reply has gone rogue. 😂 We apologize—the keyword reply feature on messenger is clearly not ready for unsupervised work. 😩

The Liberation Place team stays SO busy with the day to day work of helping our visitors and keeping everything moving while also receiving a mountain of messages, emails, and calls every day. We’re looking for two or three dedicated, tech-savvy volunteers—perhaps a retired person/people or stay at home parents with a little extra time—to help us respond to our messages on Facebook and help with other small facebook related tasks.

This is what community might looks like. 💪🏽

An anonymous farmer in the Yoder area generously donated all of this produce (and so much more than what’s in this photo!) when our friend, Angela, asked.

Then Angela and her husband, Ikram, took time out of their weekend to drive all the way there, pick it up, and bring it back so we could share it with our neighbors.

So many people got to take some of this fresh produce home yesterday! [Update: Almost all of the produce is gone. A little bit of the green beans are left, which means you might get some if you’re one of our first visitors today!]

This is what Liberation Place is about: all of us chipping in where we can to make sure each of us has what we need. Community caring for community, with no hierarchy.

Thank you, Angela and Ikram. Thank you to the generous farmer who made this donation. And thank you to every person who helps make Liberation Place what it is. We are so grateful for all of you.

And it is not too late to help keep this community care going. We are still raising the funds we need to keep Liberation Place open for all of our scheduled days in September.
