Wichita Public Schools is forming a Financial Oversight Committee to provide guidance on the district’s most urgent financial challenges. This committee will serve as a Superintendent formed board advisory group, helping district leadership and the Board of Education evaluate funding strategies, prioritize financial resources, and ensure long-term fiscal sustainability for WPS students and staff.
While the committee’s immediate focus will be on short-term and long-term funding solutions for school facilities, its broader role will be to examine financial challenges across the district and recommend strategies to support students, staff, and schools.
We are seeking applicants with experience in:
Finance, accounting, or budgeting (public sector or large-scale organizations preferred)
Facilities planning, or construction
K-12 education or higher education
Community leadership, advocacy, or public engagement
Business, nonprofit, or civic engagement experience
WPS students, parents, and school administrators
Committee members will meet periodically to review financial data, analyze funding priorities, and provide recommendations to district leaders. Meetings will begin in April, with a focus on facilities funding, and expand to other financial topics over time.
If you are interested in serving, please complete the committee application by Friday, April 11th by completing the application.
Wichita Public Schools is committed to transparency and community engagement, and we encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.
