Today was a day we will never forget.
After losing Sidnee, a dedicated sheriff’s deputy killed in the line of duty in October 2022, our family chose to fight for something meaningful in her honor. Our dad, Jerry, worked tirelessly to send emails and make calls to many people in Topeka to get this done. Today, Governor Kelly officially signed Sidnee’s Law into law.
What started from unimaginable loss became a mission to protect others and create lasting change. Sidnee served her community with courage, compassion, and strength every single day, and this law ensures her legacy will continue to make a difference.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who stood beside us, supported this effort, and helped make this possible. Legislators, law enforcement community, friends, family, and every person who believed in honoring Sidnee through action. A special thank you to Jill Ward for everything you have done for us.
This year, we have decided to focus our efforts to making changes at the state level, instead of doing a fundraiser.
Today is emotional, bittersweet, and deeply meaningful. We miss her every day, but we are proud beyond words that her name will forever stand for something bigger. ❤️
