It's time for an auction! My sister and I have spent the past month or so sorting through everything at mom and dad's house. As much as I wish we could keep all of it... it's just not possible! So, a good friend of mine is going to conduct an auction for us next Saturday, April 12th starting at 10:00am. Pedro Means used to do our "buy outs" when we did Estate Sales, and I really appreciate his help with this auction. My family and I have taken items from the house to keep, but there is a lot of stuff left for the auction. Mom and dad lived in a two story house with a full basement! The basement was never finished because it was just used for storage so I think it will be a good auction! I used to do the colisium flea market selling costume jewelry and since I haven't had time to do that for awhile, I'm bringing in a huge amount of costume jewelry for the auction! There will also be old glassware including pink depression glass, several antique kerosene oil lamps, variety of toys, comic books, postcards, gun cases, ammo, gun locks, air-rifle, some fishing stuff, books, old sewing stuff, trunks, furniture, lots of kitchen cookware, old sled, holiday decor, maple bedroom furniture, metal shelves, washer/dryer, refrigerator, garage stuff, outdoor swing on metal frame, some garden stuff, and the list goes on! I hope the weather will cooperate because this will be an outside auction! And before I forget.... I will also take this opportunity to pass on some "good news"! My son bought the old Summit Antique Mall located in downtown Arkansas City! It's been closed up for awhile, but it's a huge building! He has started renovations and if everything goes as planned, we will be opening up an antique mall next Fall! The previous owner left a lot of stuff so we are trying to figure out what to do with all of it! Maybe a sale.... or maybe just a big dumpster!! Anyway, hope to see you on Saturday!
