Camp Discovery & Sweet Betes Kansas The purpose of Camp Discovery is to educate youth with diabetes while allowing them to enjoy a traditional summer camp experience.

Camp Discovery accommodates children grades 4 through 12 (11 and 12 as counselors-in-training) with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The camp is fully staffed by health professionals, including doctors, nurses and dietitians, who volunteer their time. While at camp, children learn new ways to manage their diabetes through nutrition, physical activity and proper self-care. Additionally, our camp encoura

ges children to be cognizant of carbohydrates and calorie intake at each meal. Youth also get to experience summer camp in an environment designed to meet their special needs.
