On Sunday, we honored and celebrated the lives of firefighters who gave their lives in service to their communities.

This ceremony took place at the future home of the Kansas Firefighter Memorial Park.

All across this great state, firefighters have paid the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving others. Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Thank you to everyone who came out to attend the ceremony and help us honor these heroes.

For Firefighter/Paramedic Arnulfo “Paco” Avitia Jr., Hispanic Heritage Month is a reminder to take pride in your culture, your family and those who came before you. ❤️

After nearly a decade of serving the community in different ways, Paco says it’s an honor to have the trust of Wichita residents when they and their families need help most.
