Service is service because:
- It needs to be done
- There is no pay for doing it
- It is often times thankless
- The population that does not understand service will usually undo your efforts in short order
- There is a deep meaning to it that Scouts understand.
Scouts do service because a Scout is helpful, and a Scout is loyal.
When you are a Scout, and you are doing service, you know that you will be tired, dirty, wet, and hungry. We do these things because we promised to, and because we belong to an organization that understands why it must be done.
Thanks to everybody that helped Saturday and again this morning. On these 2 days, we did not suffer these things to glorify Old Mission Mortuary & Wichita Park Cemetery, we did these things to renew the honor and respect for those that have lost loved ones, loved ones that fought for our right to be Scouts. A society can be judged by the manner in which it treats it's dead. We are Scouts, and this is how we treat our dead.
Thanks to Old Mission Mortuary & Wichita Park Cemetery for extending this opportunity to us.
