Black Women Empowered in Wichita is a coalition of women from different backgrounds who have come together to put on an event for the complete healing of Black women in the City of Wichita, KS. We believe this is the time for Black women to seriously discuss the issues which impact them on a daily basis. Issues such as: Their spiritual journey and mental and physical healing will be discussed at p
lanned quarterly events. We believe Black women have ignored these issues because they have been too busy taking care of others. Our targeted audiences are women and girls 14 and older from different backgrounds. Black Women Empowered in Wichita vision is to have better outcomes of communication between women and our families; to be better mothers and better stewards in our communities. BWEIW will reach out to more women to have sister connections and healing events. Held three successful events of healing for Black women and young Black girls ages 14 and up. The first event was held on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the Madison Residents Clubhouse, 1005 N. Madison with facilitators that focused on the Spiritual, Mental, and Physical healing. The second event was held on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the Madison Residents Clubhouse, 1005 N. The third event was held on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Grant Chapel AME Church, 2750 N.
