Wichita Area Sister Cities

Wichita Area Sister Cities Wichita is an active participant in the Sister Cities International program.

Goals include community enrichment by exhibits, tours, student exchanges, meeting foreign leaders. Wichita Area Sister Cities (WASC) pursues exchanges with its sister cities in the following areas of interest:

Diplomatic - Mayor and City Council delegation visits
Cultural - group and individual exchanges
Educational - university programs for language development
Professional - ballet, music, c

hef, etc. Tourism - group and individuals
Economic - searching business opportunities
To cultivate interest in our sister cities, the following events are held locally:

International Student Day - January (annual)
Chinese New Year - February (annual)
WWII Veteran and Jeanne d'Arc Commemoration - May (annual)
Multicultural events
Bastille Day - July (annual)
Festival de Loire Trip - September
Chinese Dinner/Movie Event - as scheduled
French Dinner/Movie Event "Entre Nous" - as scheduled
Mexican Dinner/Movie Event - as scheduled

One year ago today, one of the proclamations at the Wichita City Council meeting was “Orleans - Wichita Sister City Day”.

Thank you to the Wichita Area Sister Cities France Committee for organizing this visit with our sister city counterparts, OW Orléans Wichita New Orleans, and thank you to the City of Wichita- Government and Mayor Lily Wu for their warm welcome of our delegates last year.
