Wichita Children's Home Wichita Children's Home offers the only emergency, temporary residential shelter for children in our

The Wichita Children’s Home is a non-profit organization that offers the only emergency, temporary, and residential care for children in our community. We are open 24/7 and rely on community support to continue to meet the needs of and ensure the safety of children in need. From the moment they arrive, helpless infants to hardened teenagers are shown kindness and consolation. Our staff attends to

each child's immediate needs, providing a warm bath, nutritious food, clean clothes and medical care. Although more than 2,000 children are admitted each year, the Home's mission extends beyond providing only crisis intervention services. At WCH, our services are comprehensive and outcome-oriented, with an eye to creating stronger individuals and healthier families.

May is National Foster Care Month, and we’re taking time to honor the incredible foster families in our WCH family. Your compassion and commitment help children heal and feel safe after experiencing trauma. Thank you for opening your hearts and homes to the over 800 children you helped in 2025.

Thank you, Renewal by Andersen of Kansas, for your thoughtful donation of care packages. Each package, filled with cozy blankets, notebooks, fidget toys, and heartfelt notes of encouragement, is a simple yet meaningful reminder to our youth that they are seen, supported, and cared for. Thank you for bringing comfort and kindness to WCH! ❤

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to remember that when a crisis happens, the community steps in. When children arrive at the Wichita Children's Home in police protective custody, often with only what they’re wearing, we provide them with immediate safety: something to eat, clean clothes, a comfy bed, and a calm adult who reassures them they are safe.

A huge thank you to the incredible organizers of Diaper Jam, held each April in honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month. Diaper Jam is a powerful blend of community, compassion, and purpose. From Emma’s Army to the many generous hearts who show up yearly, your support means so much. This two-day event—filled with live music, raffles, vendors, and the presence of Bikers Against Child Abuse- creates both awareness and real impact.

Because of you, more than 30,500 diapers were donated to Wichita Children’s Home, helping meet one of our most consistent and essential needs.

Created in memory of the organizer’s niece, Diaper Jam is a beautiful example of how love and remembrance can grow into something that supports and protects children in our community. We are so grateful to be part of it. 💛

Conversations matter. Sometimes prevention begins with a simple question: “How can I help?” “What can I do?” “What do you need?”

Noticing, listening, offering support, reporting concerns, and continuing to show up, these small actions can change the direction of a child’s life.

We’re so grateful for Bob, Ward, and Sheldon, our CrossRoads Bike Shed volunteers! They repair donated bikes, teach youth how to maintain them, guide them in using tools, and walk them through a full bike checklist. Their support helps youth take ownership of their bikes, a vital resource for getting to school, work, or appointments.
Volunteers like Bob, Ward, and Sheldon make a lasting impact by sharing skills, confidence, and independence with the youth at CrossRoads.

From seasonal crafts to fun holiday projects, she always brings something thoughtful and engaging.🎨

Thank you, Sarah, for the time, heart, and joy you bring to Polaris. It matters, and so do you.

We’re excited to welcome our new volunteer group, HAPI (Hands and Paws, Inc.), to Wichita Children’s Home! During their first session at Gerard House, therapy dogs and a therapy bunny brought smiles, comfort, and an important animal-human connection to our youth.

HAPI will be visiting Gerard House every Friday and CrossRoads every other Thursday, helping create calm, joyful moments and giving our youth the chance to connect with these amazing animals. We’re so grateful for the care and companionship they bring!
