Hard to believe we can fit all the fun in one building on Fridays, but it's true! 🤩

Our quarter 2 Fun Friday classes are open for registration NOW, and they begin Oct. 23. If your kids are already enjoying our back-to-back learning opportunities, or if your family has been dying to try it out, our advice is to check out the classes and register early. Many classes filled up first quarter, and we don't want you to miss out.

Sometimes, school founders have dreamed of opening their school for years.

But often, the idea for a new school seems to find the founder instead of the other way around.

Sunflower Learning Community founder Darby Breaux-Vickers falls into the second category. Her homeschool enrichment hybrid model is taking off in its second year of operation at Learning Lab Wichita. Although Darby has always loved kids, she never would've guessed she would be running an innovative school model.

Sunflower Learning Community offers enrichment learning programs to ages 4-7 through Sprouts and ages 7-12 through Sprout's Guild. For the first quarter of fall 2026, Sprout's Guild enrollment is full.

This demonstration of demand for an enrichment model highlights the changing landscape of K-12 education in Wichita. The marketplace still has plenty of room to support new, better and different education models across the private, public and homeschool sectors.

Throughout this year, we will be sharing Darby's story as the founder of an innovative education model. Follow along to experience the winding journey of an education entrepreneur.
