Two years after Wichita Public Schools started Creative Minds, a Project-Based Learning school model inside Learning Lab Wichita, the district is opening a second location for 2026-2027.

The social and academic successes of the kids enrolled in the model is creating buzz among parents who want school to look different.

Parents are kids' first and most important advocate in helping them find an education that works for them.

Schools that partner with families to work together to help kids learn and grow see great success. At Learning Lab Wichita, we work with families who have made the choice to homeschool AND families who send their children to one of our resident private or public school models but still are involved in their children's education.

Today, on Global Parents' Day, we salute parents who are choosing the best schools possible for their unique children. Schools cannot be one-size-fits all – because neither are children.

Let's save the animals. 🐆🐕🐈

The Creative Minds Animal Conservation Exhibition, hosted by kids in kindergarten through sixth grade last night at Learning Lab, offered many opportunities to learn about different animals' habitats, characteristics and threats. Kids demonstrated their knowledge through the creation of games, posters, books, dioramas, plays, podcasts, songs and more.

One duo even raised money to help pets at the Kansas Humane Society.

The magic that happens when kids care + are given the opportunity to learn, share or help is immeasurable.

Creative Minds is a Wichita Public Schools Project-Based Learning microschool that started inside Learning Lab Wichita in 2024. Learn more ➡️
