Looking for a volunteer to help organize a few scouts to be honor guards along the Mid West Catholic Family Conference Eucharistic Procession August 1. Every year youth holding banners or candles line the route around Century 2. I asked if scouts in uniform could do this. They would love to have 10 or so scouts in uniform…. I’m leaving for National Jamboree and won’t return until that day. I’d like a leader to organize this. Let me know if you are interested. I’ll put you in touch with the contact lady….

Mike Shockey and I were able to hand out the new Quivira Catholic Scouting patches at Troop 503, Church of the Magdalene this evening! Great kids! Can’t wait to see more with the new patch on their uniforms!

The St George Vocation Trek is set to take off for Philmont tomorrow morning and Ivy Doeger from Quivira Council is amping the participants! Please keep them all in your prayers as they trek across Philmont in prayer and adventure!

Good morning from Albuquerque!

All 39 participants arrived safely from across the U.S. and the 2026 St George Trek is underway!

Yesterday afternoon we gathered in-person for the first time and our Scouts began forming the bonds with their trek crew members. It was fantastic seeing everyone laughing and bonding. Following Mass celebrated by Bishop Mike Fisher (Diocese of Buffalo) our Scouts spent more time meeting as crews before going to sleep.

Today our crews will be attending classes focusing on leadership, communication - conflict management, vocations and holding various equipment shakedown activities. They are all preparing both spiritually and physically all while drinking plenty of water to keep hydrated.

Tomorrow morning we depart at 6 AM for Philmont where they will participate in Day 1 activities, to include: a Philmont base camp tour, collecting crew equipment and route planning. Following Mass at the Philmont Catholic chapel we will attend the opening show. On Saturday morning we all head out on the trail!

How to get the CSP St George Trek fundraiser patch….. I can mail them, or arrange to get them at roundtable. I also don’t mind making a unit visit and making the available there! Every penny goes 100% to support sending two youth to the Trek in 2028! It’s a wonderful opportunity for youth to pray about their vocation while on a trek at Philmont Scout Ranch.
