On May 17, 1990 the World Health Organization affirmed that sexuality is innate and not derived from mental illness. The American Psychiatric Association had voted to affirm this position on December 15, 1973. This day is now known as International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia.
At M-Care, we stand firmly on these truths. For years, sexuality and gender identity were truths that patients felt they had to hide from their healthcare team. But we fail our patients when we don’t meet people where they are and try to understand their lives, needs, and goals. We are honored that we get to share in our patients’ truths and help make their lives better through quality, goal oriented healthcare.
