Farwell to Auske

Any employee with enough years at an organization has similar, shared memories: the over-the-hill birthday pranks, a microwave popcorn induced fire drill, or even the who-done-it mystery of the missing takeout. Years pass with laughter, the occasional sorrow, but in the end, there is one date circled on everyone’s personal calendar: retirement.

Early this month, Bob Auske, a 23-year veteran of Envision Xpress, found his circled calendar date. Now what he was not prepared for on this date was the outpouring of well-wishes, hugs, and a surprise visit from the Wichita Team. Making the drive up to Nebraska included Buddy Sell, McConnell Store Manager John Moore and his wife, Rich Moon, and Regina Henderson. “I was amazed at how many people came to support Bob’s sendoff,” said Rich Moon. “I knew he was well liked by his customers…the turnout was just tremendous, a real testament to the relationship building he’s done over the years,” he said.

Farewells and goodbyes resounded, but many welcomes were heard as well. This date also marked a change in leadership, being day one for William Heng, who brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience in commercial retailing to complement one of Envision’s busiest stores.
“I welcome the challenge of crossing over from the civilian to the military world, learning the language, the processes, and most importantly getting to know the people we serve. I look forward to many years of growing myself and the store with Envision,” William said.

After the party wound down, just past closing, Bob walked the store one final time and turned to William and said, “take my keys, this is all yours now, you’ll do great things here.”

Just like a series finale in a TV sitcom, the lights flicked off, the open signed flipped to close and the lead character fades into the distance. Not here though, this series was picked back up and starts again tomorrow – slightly different cast, but the hard work, drive, and commitment to excellence remains the storyline.

*Special thanks to Marla Page of Mountain Home and John Moore of McConnell for taking time away from their stores to train William in his new role.
