First Responders Foundation of Kansas

First Responders Foundation of Kansas Supporting Our Kansas First Responders! While these First Responders give to our community on a daily basis, it is now our time to give back.

Let’s rally behind our brave first responders who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe.

“Run For Them Not From Them”

Proud Member of the Andover & Derby Chamber of Commerce The First Responders 5K Run & Walk Foundation celebrates First Responders who put their lives on the line daily to keep our communities safe and honors those who have fallen in the line of duty. Founder, Michael Pasco, sta

rted his career as a Volunteer Firefighter in 2022 and wanted to give back in another way. Pasco organized the Officers Down 5K in 2015 and 2016 with a goal to bring the community together on “just a day” rather than just when a First Responder is killed in The Line of Duty, to show support to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and who Continue to serve our Communities, Pasco then set out and created The First Responders 5K Run & Walk Foundation in 2022 to Bring back a First Responders Themed 5K Run and Help Raise Money for Local First Responders.

We are thrilled to share some incredible news. Our Founder and President has been invited to Washington, D.C., where he will meet with U.S. Senators, Representatives, and Members of Congress to discuss our organization’s mission and the impact we are making in our local communities, with our First Responders, and with our youth. This visit will also include meetings with federal and local law enforcement leaders, as well as official tours of the White House, the Pentagon, and the FBI Headquarters.

A Message from Our Founder, Michael Pasco

I am truly honored to travel to our Nation’s Capital in 2026 to represent the First Responders Foundation of Kansas. Our organization has grown tremendously, and we continue to make meaningful strides in supporting communities across Kansas. I look forward to showing our leaders in Washington what we are accomplishing here at home to support our current and former First Responders, our youth, and the communities we proudly serve.

We have major plans and events in place for 2026 and 2027 that will allow us to expand our reach and offer even greater support. We cannot wait to share these events with all of you. The First Responders Foundation of Kansas holds a special place in my heart, and I am blessed to work alongside an incredible team of board members and volunteers who make everything we do possible. I could not be more grateful for their dedication and commitment.

Thank you,
Michael Pasco

The "Donham Difference Award" is our new initiative. It is an initiative to celebrate School Resource Officers from around the state of Kansas. This award is named after the Derby Middle School SRO Erik Donham. This award will be awarded every quarter. This first award was presented to all the SROs that are a part of USD 260 the Derby Public Schools. We surprised them on their in-service day, AFTER their defensive tactics training to surprise them with their award and their $1,600 worth supplies for their students. The nomination form will be on our website and Facebook soon. Thank you Officer Donham (Derby Middle School), Officer Kindel (Derby North Middle School), Officer Stitt (Elementary School SRO), Officer Taylor & Officer Tran (Derby High School) for your hardwork and dedication to the students you serve.

Important Announcement:

We are Launching the Responder Relief Fund

As we shared a few weeks ago, we are excited to announce the launch of several new initiatives designed to support and strengthen our local first responders and their families. One of the first programs to take shape is our Responder Relief Fund a dedicated initiative created to provide direct assistance to current and former first responders facing unexpected hardships.

While this program will officially launch after the New Year, we are proud to share that we’ve already completed a successful soft launch. Through the generosity of our community, sponsors, donors and the 3rd Annual First Responders 5K the Responder Relief Fund has already made a meaningful difference:

• $1,000.00 was provided to a former Wichita Police Officer to assist with food, lodging, and travel expenses for an upcoming medical trip to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.

• $400.00 was provided to a former 911 Dispatcher and their family to help with expenses during a challenging period of medical recovery and extended hospital stays.

The Responder Relief Fund will be sustained through donations, fundraisers, and grants directed to the First Responders Foundation of Kansas. The program’s primary mission is to offer emergency financial assistance to current and former first responders and their families in times of crisis including medical emergencies, funeral expenses, and relocation support.

As we prepare for the full rollout of this initiative, we’ll share additional details on how the community can help, where to donate or support and we will be including a link where current and former first responders can apply for assistance. Grant amounts will typically range from $100 to $1,500, depending on the specific circumstances of each request.

Together, we can continue to make a lasting impact by standing beside those who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting our communities.

Thank you to everyone that has and continues to support The First Responders Foundation of Kansas!
