McAdams Academy Embracing and Educating Society's Neglected Kids Our students are moderate to high-risk in middle school and high school.

McAdams Academy is an alternative, community-based, trauma-informed behavioral program that uses a classroom format located in Wichita, KS. They do not have access to a structured learning environment because they are expelled, suspended, or in the foster care system without permanent placement. At McAdams, students earn high school credits, including electives, while working on problem behavior.

As schools struggle with how to handle problem behavior in the classroom, student expulsions have become the most used disciplinary action across the nation. Some studies suggest that insubordination is responsible for over 90% of school expulsions. 20% of students with an emotional behavioral disorder (EBD) are arrested at least once before leaving school; 58% of those students will be arrested within three to five years after they leave school. Studies also estimate that 30% of expelled students become involved in the judicial system.

The 10th Annual McAdams Academy Golf Classic is this Friday, September 11, and this is your final chance to lock in a team before registration closes.

Beyond the friendly competition, the prizes, and the food, every dollar raised stays right here to support our students. For many of the young people who walk through our doors, McAdams Academy is the lifeline they’ve been waiting for, providing individualized trauma-informed education, small-classroom mentorship, and the belief that their story isn't over. When you step onto the course on Friday, you are directly investing in a student's graduation, healing, and future.

What you can expect Friday morning:
-7:00 AM: Check-in & Breakfast (burritos, Druber’s donuts, coffee & juice)

Research has proven this for decades. Yet right now, Kansas youth facing long-term suspension or expulsion have nowhere else to go to finish their classes.

McAdams Academy exists to make sure an expulsion isn't an end point. We provide a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment where students can earn accredited credits and rewrite their future.

Last call to hit the greens for a great cause! ⛳🏌️

Registration is closing quickly for the 10th Annual McAdams Academy Golf Classic this Friday, September 11, and we need your help filling the final spots on the course.

When you play in this tournament, you’re doing so much more than spending a Friday on the fairway. Your support directly funds individualized learning, compassionate mentorship, and vital emotional and academic support for young people who need a second chance. Every team registered helps restore hope, rebuild confidence, and keep our students moving forward toward graduation and a bright future.

Here’s what you can look forward to on the course:

The State of Kansas invests millions into education and job training for adults after they enter the correctional system:

• $8.3M invested in inmate educational technology
• 10 college partners across state facilities
• 40 private-industry partners employing incarcerated adults
• 653 incarcerated students per year earning degrees or certifications, along with incentives such as reduced sentence time for continuing education

Yet when Kansas youth are expelled, they receive none of these state resources, funding, or structured pathways, leaving them isolated with nowhere else to turn but McAdams Academy.

We believe in second chances, but why wait until someone is behind bars?

McAdams Academy relies on donor support to provide that same structure, education, and career hope before a child ever enters the justice system.
