The Fourth of July is less than a month away! That means NOW is the time to talk to your vet about concerns you have for your dog(s). Any calming supplements or anti-anxiety medications need to be on board and tested with your dog well ahead of go-time. In Kansas, fireworks usually start popping around the first of July, so get prepared now so that you don't find yourself in a bind!

Meet Sofia! Teeny, tiny little Sofia was relinquished to us after having two litters of puppies (adoptable pup Cinco is one of her babies). This sweet pea had never been to the vet and was miserably engorged with milk when she came to us. She weighs about 6 pounds and is an absolute gem. Sofia has two other dogs in her foster home and she gets along fine with them. She also loves human kiddos and will snuggle up in whatever lap is available! Her foster family describes her as "tiny and cute and happy and snuggly" - which is a pretty perfect combo of attributes, in our opinion! Sofia is working on going potty outside and is housebroken with supervision. Sofia is a two year old chihuahua mix weighing 6 pounds.

Try to say no to this face 🥹

Baxter is a darling mixed breed boy that is approximately 1-2 years old and weighs about 14.9 pounds. He has a beautiful, very soft reddish brown coat with a black muzzle. He is extremely cute and quite smart. He mastered the doggy door in his foster home in less than a day. He is a very nice boy with a sweet temperament and he gets along well with other dogs. Baxter is timid with new people but warms up quickly. He will have to have either a privacy fence or a wrought iron with the "puppy stakes" and a patient, calm household. He is a precious little guy!

Meet Cinco! She was born on April 7th, and weighed 1.15 pounds when she was relinquished to us. Her mom is Sofia, is a very petite 6 pound Chiweenie, and her dad is Fred, a 10 pound Yorkie/Chihuahua mix. (Both very sweet and also available for adoption). As of June 1st, Cinco weighs in at 2.2 pounds and she has had her 1st round of puppy shots. She is scheduled for her second round of shots on June 26th and she will then be available for adoption on puppy contract. Because she is too young to be spayed a $300 deposit will be required in addition to her adoption fee. Her adopter will be required to spay her when she is the proper age and the deposit will then be returned. Cinco is a playful, confident and absolutely adorable little lady that will make some lucky family very happy. Her personality develops more everyday, but she is a sweet, silly and snuggly little girl that entertains and delights her foster mom. She sleeps through the night without a peep, and is just a perfect little pup!

Pepe's looking for his people! Pepe is just a chill dude who really wants nothing more than a lap. Even better if you have a blanket he can cuddle up under! Pepe is a 5 - 6 year old CHUG (Chihuahua Pug mix and yes we really love calling him a chug 🤣). He's housebroken, quiet, good with kids, and very sweet. Pepe gets along fine with other dogs, but he's not interested in playing with them, so he would do just fine as an only dog. He enjoys going for walks and curling up like a donut. At 15 pounds, Pepe's a great lap dog size!

Waiting for his forever family...

Baxter is the sweetest little dude. He has really blossomed in his foster home and he's ready to find his forever family! He's a cuddly, sweet boy who loves to be close. The ideal home for Baxter will be calm and quiet, with a securely fenced yard. He really doesn't need much, but Baxter is shy and will take some time to settle in and get comfortable with his people. He'll make an absolutely amazing companion for empty-nesters, someone who works from home, or even someone with older kids who are gentle and kind to little dogs. Baxter really just needs to feel safe and secure - he is absolutely precious! 😍🥹
