Violence is a public health crisis, and all of us have a role to play in addressing it.

Alongside Destination Innovation and their national partner, National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), Wichita District 1 convened 35 leaders representing 19+ organizations to begin building a violence prevention ecosystem for Wichita—one focused on prevention, working upstream, and investing in long-term solutions.

The urgency of now is here. No one organization can do this alone.

Destination Innovation & I Am Why are hosting a 3-day Art as Activism Workshop June 19–21 for young women ages 17–27.

I Am Why brings young women of color and gender expansive activists together with researchers and other partners to increase young activists’ individual and collective power. By celebrating their strengths and sharing their stories and visions for justice, young people lead the way to policies, practices and programs that work.

This April we celebrate 5 years of impact and growth! 🎉

Destination Innovation was built on a powerful mission: connecting youth to the mindset, resources, and networks to become successful leaders and innovators, and five years later, that mission continues to drive everything we do.

Through our five programs: Camp Destination Innovation, Cure Violence ICT Progeny, Root The Power, and Rise Up For Youth, we empowered young people to dream bigger, lead boldly, and create change in their communities.

One hub - five impact areas, we continue to strive to build pathways to opportunity, leadership, and innovation.

We would love for Wichita youth to join us for WEALTH Day 2026 at the Kansas State Capitol!

Kansas WEALTH Day of Advocacy and Education brings together organizations, advocates, and legislators to connect around Water, Energy, Air, Land, Transportation, and Health — Kansas WEALTH. This is a free opportunity for youth to travel to the Capitol, learn about important issues impacting Kansas, and see advocacy in action.

We’re excited to be back in person at the Capitol this year and hope to see you there!
