Our mission is to provide Care, Hope, and Support for All when Illness Threatens Life. Hospice of Wichita Falls is the first and only community-based, non-profit hospice serving 12 counties in North Central Texas. We provide hospice care and services in private residences, assisted living facilities, contracted nursing facilities and hospitals and in our W. Erle and Emma White Hospice Inpatient Center.

What are these pillows, and why are our volunteers putting so much heart into making them? 💜

Our volunteers may not be able to give a family one more embrace with someone they love, but they can give them something familiar to hold.

A favorite shirt carries memories of ordinary days together and the feeling of resting your cheek against it during a hug. With care in every stitch, our Hospice of Wichita Falls volunteers turn these treasured shirts into Memory Pillows. They are made upon request exclusively for our patients’ families, using a shirt the family provides. Staff and volunteers generously donate all materials, including the sewing machines, helping a craft that brought volunteers together become another tender way to keep caring for families.

If your loved one received care from us, please reach out to request a memory pillow. If you already have one, we’d love to see a photo in the comments whenever you feel like sharing.

Our volunteers may never see someone reach for their pillow on the first birthday without their loved one or tuck it against their chest at night. But the kindness of their hands will be there, bringing a little comfort on a night they miss their loved one most. 💜

You won’t be disappointed scrolling through these FALL CARNIVAL 2026 photos. 🍂

FALL CARNIVAL 2026 was everything we hoped it would be and more. Superheroes seemed to have taken over, fairytale princesses stepped out of storybooks, and children proudly showed off some of the most creative costumes we've ever seen. Costume or not, every child brought their own unique sparkle to our fall celebration.

Everywhere you looked, there were smiling faces, bags filling up with candy, and families making fall memories together. Volunteers running games, students giving their time, community partners sharing their talents and time, and families coming together to enjoy a day created just for them. The joy, kindness, and sense of community were felt everywhere.

Fall Carnival is one of our favorite ways to say THANK YOU to the community that continually supports us and our mission. And we are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and to the many organizations, volunteers, students, and supporters who helped make it such a success.

Behind every person is a lifetime you haven’t lived, stories that may surprise you, and lessons you may never have had to learn. Even their simplest story can hold something worth carrying into your own life. What you take away begins with how you listen. So, ask a little more and listen a little longer. On this day in 2023, the doors of the Philbin-Prothro Inpatient Care Center opened for the first time. Talking with Carol Anne Riddle reminded us of what it means to have a place like this when someone you love needs it.

Carol Anne describes her husband, Dr. Riddle, as “a lot of different things to different people.” While he was receiving care at our Inpatient Care Center, she found comfort in the people who took the time to know them both. She remembers the consistency of their care and how everyone, from the clinical team to volunteers and housekeeping, made it feel like family.

For Carol Anne, that feeling of family was in the little things, like finding her favorite drink in the refrigerator.

Pete, one of our volunteers, knew she loves Diet Dr Pepper. Each morning he was there, he left one for her. She always knew it was from him.

When so much of her heart was with her husband, someone had thought of her. They remembered what she likes and left a little kindness for her to find.

Later one day, Dr. Riddle’s family returned through our doors, each carrying his favorite orchids for all the people who had cared for him. Something that had brought him joy became their way of thanking those who had brought them comfort.

Every time we see orchids we remember Dr. Riddle and his family with fondness. Those beautiful orchids continue to teach us that care stays with a family. Long after a small gesture has passed, they remember how it made them feel. And sometimes, they bring that kindness back to you, wrapped in something so precious to them.

As we celebrate ICC’s third anniversary, we think of all the little moments that have made these walls feel warm and these rooms feel less unfamiliar.

To everyone who helped open these doors, everyone who walks through them, and everyone who fills them with compassion each day, Thank you. 💜

We are celebrating 3 years of the Philbin-Prothro Inpatient Care Center and we cannot go without celebrating the people who give it its heart. 💜

The people who offer a gentle presence at the bedside, the ones who provide support to the families. The hands that prepare medications with care, serve a warm meal, or make a room fresh and comfortable. The volunteer who pulls up a chair and gives someone time to simply be heard. All of them make this a special place.

To our clinical, pharmacy, and social services teams, volunteer department, Bistro staff, hospitality team, our facilities and safety coordinator, and everyone who cares for this place and its people, THANK YOU.

Your work at our Inpatient Care Center touches patients and families in ways you may never fully know. During some of their most tender days, your gentle words and quiet acts of care become part of their story. Thank you for giving them so many moments of kindness they can hold onto.

These walls have held so much love. 💜

Since opening its doors in 2023, our Philbin-Prothro Inpatient Care Center has had the privilege of serving more than 2,600 patients and families till date. Behind that number are people deeply loved, families navigating unfamiliar days, and countless moments, stories, and people our HOWF members hold close to their hearts.

Today, as we countdown to the Inpatient Care Center's third anniversary on October 9th, we are opening a window through these photos to show you few of the spaces in our center that surround our care. The chapel offers a quiet place for whatever is on your heart, the family rooms make space for shared stories and a little rest, and in our patient's care suite, our team brings comfort, dignity, and compassionate care to the bedside.

These photos show a building, but its true meaning comes from the people we've had the privilege to care for and the families who have entrusted us with their journey. 💜
