60 Years of Partnership, Celebrated Through Art!

Today, we celebrated the dedication of the German Air Force 60th Anniversary Mural at Wichita Falls Regional Airport!

Created by North Texas artist Lindsey Jenkins, the mural reflects the history of training and international cooperation at Sheppard Air Force Base. Since 1966, generations of German pilots and their families have become part of the Wichita Falls community. This mural recognizes those connections!

Commissioned by the City of Wichita Falls and administered by the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture, the mural is now on display inside the airport terminal.

Thank you to our City and military partners, the artist, and everyone who helped bring this project to life!

Who says art only belongs in museums?

The Wichita County Courthouse Galleries prove it can live in courthouses, schools, parks, and the everyday spaces we all share. We're proud to support public art throughout the Courthouse, featuring exhibitions from local photographers and artists that celebrate our region's people, history, and character.

Next time you're there, look up. You might just see a piece of Wichita County's story on the walls.

Have you spotted the "Better Together" mural in Downtown Wichita Falls? We commissioned this large-scale piece in 2020, and it still says everything we believe about this community: we're more resilient, more vibrant, and more connected when we create together.

This project came to life with the support of incredible partners, including MSU Texas, the City of Wichita Falls, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Next time you're downtown, slow down and take it in. Public art is part of what makes Wichita Falls feel like home.

What if art could welcome you AND point you in the right direction?

The "New Beginnings" Mural and Wayfinding System at Vernon College in Wichita Falls does both. This project paired a beautiful mural from artist Meagan LeBlanc with functional wayfinding signage, installed by Anthony Campos.

It's a great reminder that public art can be practical too, making spaces easier to navigate while making people feel at home.
