We are excited to share upcoming important dates and updates from BCL. Tomorrow, May 16 is a scheduled work day from 9am until 12pm. We will be continuing work on the framing in the living room and kitchen area. If enough volunteers are on hand we will also seal our gutters and finish installing down spouts. And of course, we always take care of volunteers!
Work days will occur regularly each month on the 2nd and 4th Saturday. Beginning in June, we will start at 8am so we can avoid as much heat as we can. In June, this will be the 6th and the 20th. We have several walls and areas needing framing so this will be an ongoing project. Our next step in construction is the installation of sewer and drain lines, this will cost $100,000 so it cannot be started until the money is raised. We can also split the project between wings and will allow part of the construction to start if the overall amount is not raised at one time. By doing the construction with volunteers and donated labor, it is lowering our overall costs though it is taking longer for completion.
Even though the building is not complete, we are still available to help Veterans in need. Thanks to the Crossroads Gang, a local Veteran and his spouse were gifted a new working stove and refrigerator. A female Veteran was donated a full 2 bedroom apartment of furniture and household items for when she leaves Sober Living. We are actively working with Veterans in need in our community and look for to helping many more!

The 2026 March of Honor is in the books and we could not have done it without our sponsors and partners so we want to make sure we say thank you and let them know how much we appreciate their support. Legacy JROTC, Lonestar Wastewater, University Park Health Care, the Girl Scouts, Cumulus Broadcasting, Carlson Law Firm, Veterans Auto Repair, Airgas, and our partners from Shephard Air Force Base. Four days till we March! We want to encourage you to come walk with us, in Memory or in Honor of a Veteran in your life. The idea is for participants to honor their Veteran by walking a mile, or more, in their boots. There is NO cost for joining the march this year! If you choose to participate in the walkathon and donate, there will be prizes awarded based on the amount donated once all monies are submitted by May 15. We want to flood the streets of downtown Wichita Falls in support for our Veterans, especially those who are homeless and feel alone. Come as an individual or gather a team to march in Honor or in Memory of a Veteran who is important in your life! Opening Ceremonies start at 845am and the march starts at 9am. Whose boots will you march in?

Work day is coming! KNIN 92.9's remote broadcast from 9-11am at the building will take part in this significant first work day. Thanks to The Carlson Law Firm's sponsorship, we can promote Base Camp Lindsey and the upcoming March of Honor on May 2, and we invite volunteers to join us on Saturday for wall construction in the main living area. Seeing these first walls going up will be a tremendous achievement and we would love to have you join us in celebrating the start of actual construction at Base Camp Lindsey!

The last two weeks have been busy and we have so much to be grateful for!! Our friends at Helen Farabee Center donated this amazing 8 burner stove and a LOT of computers for our program and each Veteran we serve. We are grateful for their support for our program and our Veterans!
West Foundation and their S2S kids surprised us with a donation of $455 to support services to the Veterans in our program. This is money they raised among themselves, to help people they did not even know. We are so very proud of these young people and their compassion for others!
