The best way to honor the UN's birthday is to join UNA-USA's Call-in Day from today until the end of the month. The UN's impact is profound: saving lives, aiding recovery, and fostering peace amid crises. In these uncertain times, we must champion full funding of the UN. See the advocacy agenda here for resources at the link in bio!

From now until the end of month advocate for the UN by writing to your Member of Congress, calling and speaking with a staffer, submitting a letter to an editor, or signing our human rights petition. All resources at the link in bio will help get your voice heard!

Happy Thursday Everyone! 😎

We wanted to share with you all about one of our amazing guest speakers who will be at our Earth Day event: Kevin J. Patel!

Kevin J. Patel is a distinguished climate justice activist and social entrepreneur based in Los Angeles, California, with over a decade of experience advocating for a sustainable and equitable world. He envisions a future where young people can access the resources they need to implement climate solutions and combat environmental injustice. Patel is widely recognized for his pioneering work in establishing the Youth Climate Commission, which he passed with fellow activist Delaney Michaelson in 2019. As the architect of this initiative, Patel has enabled youth voices to be heard more effectively in addressing the climate crisis. In 2022, Patel was appointed to the Youth Climate Commission as a Commissioner.

In addition, he is the founder of One Up Action International, a non-profit organization that supports and empowers young people to implement and accelerate climate solutions in their communities. Patel’s commitment to sustainability has earned him numerous accolades and ambassadorships. He serves as a UN Togetherband Ambassador for Goals 7, 13, and 14 and was named a 2020 National Geographic Young Explorer. He is also a member of several influential organizations, including the Environmental Media Association (EMA) Activist Board, the World Economic Forum’s 1t.org US Stakeholder Council, the Ingka Young Leaders Forum, Youthtopia World: Circle of Youth, the Climate Power Council, and the Intersectional Environmentalist Council.

Patel’s exceptional achievements have been widely recognized, and he has been awarded the MensHealth 20 Under 20 in 2020 and the 2021 NowThis News Sustainability Honoree. Kevin is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Political Science at Loyola Marymount University, Patel remains committed to his mission of creating a sustainable and equitable world for all. 🌎

Happy Monday Everyone! Pardon our silence - our Earth Day Planning Team has been working really hard to bring our community a spectacular Earth Day event which is BACK IN-PERSON!!

Join us, along with the Whittier Area Environmental Coalition, and The Whittier Uptown Association, to hear from guest speakers 🗣 such as our Congresswoman Rep. Linda Sánchez, our Mayor Joe Vinatieri, and distinguished climate justice activist/social entrepreneur and founder of One Up Action Kevin J Patel!!

Attendees will have the opportunity to view an electric car/transportation display 🚗🚲🛺, and access resources from local experts and non-profits on sustainability, drought-tolerant landscaping, healthy eating, planet-friendly home improvements, recycling/upcycling, creativity and art, meditation, and other topics pertinent to supporting and enhancing the Earth Day movement ✅♻️🔌🌱
