We are so grateful to all of our sponsors and supporters who helped make it possible for us to host the Indigenous Lactation Counselor Training led by Camie Goldhammer and Kim Moore-Salas.
Your generosity, encouragement, and commitment to supporting breastfeeding made this important training possible. Thank you for believing in this work and investing in the people who are helping build stronger, healthier communities.
Sgi! We couldn’t have done it without you!

Today, RTCAR partner RiverLink, an environmental nonprofit based in Asheville, NC, hosted a site-visit and luncheon for RTCAR staff and EBCI artisans. RiverLink staff provided tours of three of their river cane restoration sites funded through the Cherokee Preservation Foundation’s RTCAR funding, showcasing how they are restoring river cane on the land. Sgi to our partners at RiverLink for all their great work and partnership!

Last week, we held our first Judaculla’s Kids meeting of the school year! The kids visited Oconaluftee Island Park, where they heard the story of Judaculla, told by EBCI storyteller Nancy Pheasant, and got to choose and paint their own “Judaculla rock.” We’re excited for all the other meetings we have planned for this year!

CNH was excited to host representatives from Samilla de Villa and Hood Huggers at the Cherokee Mother’s Garden! This is the second intercultural engagement CNH has hosted over the past four months. The gatherings are sponsored by the Laura Jane Messer Fund and Robert Wood Johnson. The goal is to spark dialogue and collaboration around food pathways, youth conservation, and cultural preservation to foster intercultural understanding.
Sgi to Dulce Miriam and Dewayne Barton for their leadership in helping make this happen!

Sgi to everyone who joined us for yesterday’s Mothers Gathering! We were grateful to hear from a panel of women who shared their breastfeeding journeys and offered encouragement and support to other mothers. We wrapped up the evening with door prizes and an opportunity to connect with one another. We can’t wait to see you at the next one!
