This weekend we rolled with our 12U Red Team, a mix of players from our Black and White teams, with several of our starters unavailable.
Saturday was definitely disappointing. We haven’t gone 0-2 all season, and our chemistry was off. We struggled shooting the ball, and turnovers hurt us in both games. Going 0-2 dropped us into the lowest bracket for Sunday.
Sunday we came back ready to compete! 💪 We matched up with the Tucson Honey Badgers from Arizona and jumped out to a big lead. Their coach even started questioning whether our boys were really 6th graders. 😂 Trust us — our boys are 6th graders! We just had a good game and finally started playing like ourselves.
We advanced to the championship and had the lead with an opportunity to finish the weekend strong, but we couldn’t close it out. Poor shot selection and turnovers caught up with us again, and Vice Elite took the championship.
Not the weekend we wanted, but sometimes you need weekends like this. You learn a lot more about your team when things aren’t going your way. Back to practice, back to fixing the mistakes, and back to work! 🐶🏀
